I saw some footage of Warne in the paper (doing footy training) and on TV at a function (for an aspiring F1 driver) this week.
Is it just me or has Warne put on several kilos since the drugs controversy in Feb/Mar? He seemed to have the double chin back and looked closer to the rather portly fellow that played in the 2001/02 season as opposed to the slimline Warne we saw last summer.
It raises a few interesting points. Firstly, it seems that the diuretics may have had a more significant impact on his weight then I thought at first.
Secondly, if he does come back after his suspension in his old overweight form, how much will this affect his ability to play cricket at the highest level? Granted, he did it during the 1990s, but its a different story at his age now (he'll be 34 by his return). One of the reasons why he went on his diet in the first place was because he struggled badly at times during the 2001/02 season, especially in the one-dayers. It would be asking for trouble to come back from a year's absence overweight.
Do others think he looks overweight?
