Survivor- The best season

Hi, as a big (and fairly new) Survivor fan I was wondering, out of the seasons you have watched, what has been your favourite season of the show?

EDIT: Please refrain from mentioning the winner of any season as it could spoil it for some people

I'm a bit "old school", and I just loved Colby, Jerri and the rest of the group in the series in Australia.

Most will probably say a more recent series though, although I love the older series.

It's a tie for Borneo and Micronesia for me.

H & V would probably be there if the finale wasn't a pile of shit.

Tocantins was awesome, as a complete package. Everything was brilliant (including the Ponderosa videos). H vs. V was sweet too.

Here's my top 10:

1. Survivor 20: Heroes vs Villains (self explanatory, best season ever with the best players, the whole season was ruthless and epic)

2. Survivor 18: Tocantins (Coach was epic, Tyson is the funniest Survivor ever, JT, Warrior Alliance)

3. Survivor 16: Micronesia - Fans vs Favourites (Parvati's black widow alliance against the boys, epic blindsides)

4. Survivor 6: Amazon (Rob C = hilarity)

5. Survivor 8: Pearl Islands (Rupert, Jonny Fairplay, Sandra)

6. Survivor 1: Borneo (Hatch, the original)

7. Survivor 2: Australian Outback (Colby vs Jerri before Colby was lame)

8. Survivor 15: China (Todd is an awesome player, James is a beast, Courtney and Amanda also good characters)

9. Survivor 13: Cook Islands (Ozzy was amazing, Aitu 4 vs the Raro brats was entertaining)

10. Survivor 19: Samoa (Evil Russell and the Foa Foa 4 vs Galu)

Micronesia was just brilliant, from start to finish..alot of "OH..My..GOD" moments lol especially after the merge.

Another season i loved that was not an allstar season or a season with any recycled players was cook islands, it started with 4 tribes divided by race. it was really quite interesting and very strategic with some great players..

Heroes vs Villains was the best. Everything except the winner was great.

Tocantins and Fans vs Favourites were probably the next best. Samoa was good because of the Russellness and I liked All Stars and Australia as well. :thumbsu:

I am currently watching Pearl Islands and I've got to say, after a few slow-ish episodes at the start, it really starting to match the other seasons I have seen.

Pearl Islands was great - i didn't hate Rupert back then like i do now.

I am currently watching Marquesas .. very enjoyable .. Can't believe Channel 9 didn't show this & put on their own crap local version instead.

I have all the DVD box sets of the series that were released - 6 in all i think. Got them cheap off amazon. I don't know if they are planning to release more ... I wish they would as the quality is better than the episodes i have found on the net plus you get probst & co doing commentary,

Have gotta say I am now a bit more than halfway through Pearl Islands and am absolutely loving it :thumbsu:

Recommend it to anyone who is looking for a new season to watch.

Obivously recent epics like H&V and Tocantins are major favourites but I loved Amazon.

One of the best blindsides in history (before they became commonplace) when Rob C screwed over Alex and the quality of the birds hasn't been surpassed - Jenna, Heidi, Shawna to name a couple.

Also liked how the final immunity challenge was at tribal (fire making) - why dont they do that anymore?

It's hard for me to choose, as a massive fan of the show, I find merit in almost all seasons.

My vote is for Season 20, which was consistently entertaining the whole way through. Seasons I remember enjoying an awful lot at the time were China and Amazon. China showed that the editors can provide a storyline for each character if they want to.

A season that I don't particularly remember rating that highly at the time was Guatemala, but I've been watching it again, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Obviously the producers didn't rate it highly as they haven't invited anyone from that season back in subsequent seasons, apart from Steph, but it was season 10 Steph they invited back, not this version.

I've heard Jeff say that the cast wasn't particularly compelling, but I think a greater problem was the location. Camp life shots consisted of people sitting around on rocks crushing corn. The characters were good though, you had Judd, who would have been a worthy villain in S20, the Jamie and Bobby Jon rivalry, Brandon the laconic farm boy was good value,America's sweetheart Stephenie turning into a massive bitch, and Danni overcoming a massive numbers disadvantage to take the win. Not my favorite season, but definitely approaching top 5.

My only vote for worst season goes to Fiji. Yau Man and Dreamz were the saving grace of that season, everything else was pure shit.

Pearl islands favourite for me. Very engaging characters on both tribes.

Hated Microsnesia. Fans were very forgettable Jason,Eric,Natalie,the gay guy cant even remember the rest.

Heroes Vs Villains was definitely top for me, Saw the first couple of seasons and gave up on it until I caught the end of Samoa. That really got me back into it and I watched the entire Heroes and Villains season and it was definitely the best I've seen. All the Survivors were great, strategic, interesting players. There was just no competition.

The one the asian fella won was pretty good, he was probably the only bloke who didn`t resort to massive polliticking/backstabbing, a very pure winner, not sure which Survivor it was. I have watched the show from day dot but they all blend into each other after a while.
I didn`t mind the Australian version, the one ch.9 made, maybe along the lines of it was that bad it was good. The meltdown that woman had (and if you watched the show you would know who I mean) was an all time classic, she would out villain any villain you could name, she actually lost the plot on national t.v. She had alot of trouble weeks and months later back in civilian life with people recognising her and abusing her due to her appalling behaviour.

I think its best to judge survivor series with new players differently to ones with all stars/ veterans...

the all star ones are always gonna be much better, the strategies are brilliant..whereas series with new players are players on a different level trying to feel out the game

for survivors with new players my top 3 would be cook islands (parvati, ozzy and yules first season) tocantins (coaches stories...wow), and samoa, thanks to russel
