In rainy, soggy conditions at the Junciton Oval, it took until about halfway into the 2nd quarter before anyone was able to hit their straps, and that was when Royboys were able to break the shackles and skip away. This margin would prove unassailable, although the Roar did start to inch back in to the contest to a point. But by that stage the big guns of the Pizza Men, such as Wigraft, had worked out some scientific technique for turning the slippery ball into sweet, sweet wine, and they weren't about to let their ascendancy slip. To the contrary with Ruscul ... Rustercl ... their full forward finding the target an awful lot for a crap footy day, the margin grew and grew, the final siren coming not before time for the Roar.

I was also pleased to see the Pizza Men improve their goalkicking after a nervous start. Ruscuklic's hanger in the 2nd quarter gave the boys a lot more confidence in their approach to goal.

Things are not all rosy with the Royboys though. I’ve had a feeling in recent weeks that some of my midfielders have been waxing the ball amongst themselves in order to build up their Dreamteam scores. To counter this, I moved Tammy Beauchamp to CHB early in the game & gave Eddie Goodger a run in the centre. While these two continued to be amongst my best players, poor old Smirky Dwyer had a shocker, in what should have been perfect conditions for a bog-snorkeller from Koroit & Goodger & Marchesani continued to play for DT scores through the centre.
