Newman is a fantastic player. Hes like the Coughlan's, Zantuck's and well... thats it.
I had a quick look at the end of the game and Newman looked very good in the midfield. He seemed to have lots of poise (sp?) and very quick at turning - things like that.
I have also seen him in the backline which he looks a little more suited too.
Basically have your say. Newman a midfielder or Defender?!
I'd love to see a match-up between Newman and Seinfield.

I must admit that when he kicked a goal, I did my best Seinfeld impression ... <grimace> ... NEWMAN!
While Newman will play mostly as a back pocket this year, I would suggest that his longer term future does lay in the midfield, initially in a tagging kind of role.
He has pace, is a good kick, can mark, is hard and pretty strong. He also does appear to have footy smarts as well.

Fraser Gehrig would be way too tall for him.
Newman is a midfielder / forward, but needs to work on his right side to be consistently dangerous.
If he was on a scanlon's footy card - the one with the pink chewy of years ago he would be listed as a "utility"

Heres your answer folks. From a professional Richmond player.
Q:<rfctigerarmy> Do you think Newman is more of a midfield type player or a backman? Where is he suited?
A:<Ray_Hall> I think he'll progress into the midfield- He showed his strength on Saturday
