Angry Roys Terrorise Gallant Magic ...
It was a great win for the boys and girl today, more so considering the considerable disadvantage of the long trip into the west. This was indicated through our slow start.
Full credit to the Magic who got an early jump, and maintained the lead until partway through the third quarter. But then the superior application of the Roys players came to the fore, with skipper Roylion leading the way.
Along with Roylion, Fat Pizza edged out Mr Eagle in the rucking duels, and by far overshadowed his opposite number in general play, winning many kicks around the ground, and nabbing 4 goals. Another who knockied up getting kicks was diminutive onballer cjwalkley, who was a machine today, capping off 20 foot-disposals with 6 majors.
Blackers and rabs combined beautifully on a number of occasions, turning countless Magic thrusts around and launching corresponding attacks for the Roys. Yippyio got a lot of the ball at full forward, though his accuracy let him down on many occasions, finishing with just three goals seven behinds.
Forward pocket shiva25 snaffled four six-pointers himself, offering a pinch-hitter role which was the perfect foil to complement the first-choice attack. Kooka was just as damaging on the flank, setting up many goals, and pulling in a contender for mark of the year.
Stocka, FitzroyRamone, adey and Mobbenfuhrer were all serviceable, but the entire team did their bit, playing a patient preparatory role before steaming to the lead with a five goal to three third quarter, and then hammering the ascendancy home in the final stanza, where 7 goals were scored to a fast-tiring Magic's solitary, whimper-like, major.
Defender Paul D was struck with a virus just prior to today's game, which restricted his contribution considerably. It is expected that he will be rested for next week's game in order to assist his recovery.
Next week the Roys complete the doomsday double with a trip to Dark Park, where the club that's 110% talk and -10% results, Darkness Eternal, will await our glorious arrival nervously.
Congratulations Roys players, a great effort. Commiserations West Coast Magic, a good showing to run with us for three quarters, we look forward to the return challenge.
