Not too bad at all Rooboy

He had by far his best year at the club last year, winning the most improved and finishing 7th in the best and fairest. A lot of us had really high hopes for him this year and unfortunately his year was ruined by injury and poor form stemming from his injury.

He did however come back into the side and do some damage. Against Geelong, he showed he has another element to his game, kicking 4 goals in the first half as a forward option.

Joey is a midfielder with good pace and skills and should prove to be a good pick up. If Capuano's knees hold up, it could work out to be a good trade both ways.

I have a feeling he might not be your favourite player if he has a season like this year but he has a ton of natural ability and it will probably come to the fore the second he leaves us.

Joe has good foot skills and leg speed. After being at the club for two years mainly in the reserves, he showed he was a capable player in 1999 by holding a senior spot.

His main problem (imho) is for a medium sized running player he does not get enough of the ball.

Joe is a good bloke and I wish him well at North, I hope he can deliver on the potential he has shown for us in the past.

Thanks for the info. We're hoping that the McLaren/Capuano deal can be a win-win deal like Barnes/Denham or Sholl/Scott trades. Best wishes for Caps....if he can stay fit, he'll do some great stuff for you and let Everitt roam around the ground.

CIK,

Here is the thread about Joe McLaren from a few months ago.

Joe will be a great acquisition if he can have a full pre-season and remain injury free. As saints fans we have seen the best and worst of him. His best is definitely good enough.

Sainter,
Thanks for that. I wasn't around in early Nov, so I had not seen it. Again, thanks.

Knowing him pretty well as a bloke, I have to say his biggest problem is the size of his ego.

He needs to pull his head in and achieve something before he make a complete dill of himself.

I really like the guy also, but he needs to bite his tongue and knuckle down to the task at hand and achieve, rather than talk about achieving.

Cheers
