Just announced on GOLD 104 news here in Melbourne.

Some of rock's biggest acts are planning to tour Australia over the summer :
- The Eagles
- Fleetwood Mac
- David Bowie
- (possibly) U2

These are genuinely four of the biggest acts in music over the last 25-30 years, and I can't recall a time when four such big acts have toured in the one summer. Let's hope these "plans" come to fruition!

And of course there have been rumours circulating for a few weeks that Metallica will also be touring over summer, possbly playing the Big Day Out.

Not really interested in many of those bands cept for Bowie. I hope he does tour here. I'd love to see him!

An article in Melbourne's Herald-Sun said Fleetwood Mac, Bowie and The Eagles were confirmed as coming, with U2, Madonna, Foo Fighters, Steely Dan and Cher being very possible, and Christina Aguilera and Craig David likely to tour later this year.

The downside is that the cheapest seats at Rod Laver Arena could start at a ridiculous $200. No mention of likely prices elsewhere around the nation.

I'd go along and see The Eagles and possibly Steely Dan, Foo Fighters and Metallica of that lot, although at $200 none of those are definite!

Also The Specials are likely to tour later this year, if there are any ska fans out there.

The Metallica rumour at Big Day Out has been around for months and sounds very likely, I hope they do some other shows on their own too

Would definately go see the Foo Fighters again they were fantastic

My days of lining up for 4 days in the street to get Bowie tickets as I did in 1987 are well and truly over, but i wouldn't miss him for the world if he comes out again.

I saw Metalica live about 10 years ago and it was a great concert. Obviously they were playing their earlier stuff and they were really solid. Would still go and see them again now though.

David Bowie would be good to see live especially if he does a few songs from his Ziggy Stardust days. He was playing big band style music a few years ago and I just don't like that at all. Not sure what style he is into at the momet as I haven't heard anything new from him in a few years.

$200 tickets and I wont be going anywhere.
I paid $100 for Kiss and I reckon that was enough. (top concert though)

Me too, but the trouble starts with
a) getting a ticket at all
b) the 200 odd bucks it's going to set me back.

I have no doubt it would be worth it, and it'll be the last time we'll ever see them out here.

The Eagles will be appearing at the MCG on the last Saturday of September this year. There may be large demand for interstate visitors too.

Better start saving my dollars now to get to all those concerts!!!

Would definately want to see Metallica, Foo Fighters and The Eagles....but I'd have to take dad to see the Eagles with me since he was the one that got me started on them!

$200? I'd want a blow job included for that price. Stuff the greedy pricks, I don't care how famous they are.

Went and saw Skulker a couple of weeks ago at Amplifier for $15 and got a fantastic show.

Bugger these overseas money hungry sods, go see some local music.

The problem is its not the artist that is asking all that money, its the promoters and company that actually runs the event, most likely because of the insurance cover :o

Australian music is fantastic and I tend to try and support the local variety as much as I can. However in saying that, I'd pay $200 to go see U2 - sure it's expensive, but worth every cent (and some) I've heard.
