A very enjoyable day at Drummoyne Oval. It's a great setup there, very picturesque ground and the facilities there are superb. With no AFL on this weekend, it was the best chance for a football fix, and a larger than normal crowd was there.
North Shore went quickly out of the blocks with Chris Dale taking a shoulder-high speckie and converting for the first goal of the game. A sensational mark, and Nick Hosking took another great grab just before half time.
By then the Bombers had opened up a match-winning lead thanks to an 8 goals to 2 second quarter. They're a superbly drilled side and had far too many scoring options. Balmain, with Troy Luff out injured, tried hard and actually won the third quarter, but were comprehensively outclassed for the remainder of the game. Young Daniel Roberts on the forward line took the game apart in the second quarter, and number 16 Marc Bajcic was another standout for the Bombers.
