Scarecrow mentioned a club called Kent recently, as being one that went by the nickname of 'magpies'.

But I can't find a reference to a club called Kent FC. Scarecrow, timelord, anyone ... can you offer more info?

They were apart of the Darwin League, NTFU, I'm not sure if they are still an active team. There's been many country teams that have called it quits (Cambridge being the most recent) So I am guessing that Kent has gone under. I thought there would be some history on them, last time I remember hearing their name was around '98-99 in I think the NTFA (not sure though) They played in one of Northern Tasmanian leagues, which is the only thing I can remember about them.

Sure it wasn't Kent Town, Kev? Off the top of my head (I'm in Canberra right now so I can't check) there certainly wasn't a Kent anywhere is Tassie as far back as the 1960's. But Kent Town rings a bell. I'll have to get back to you guys on that one.

I could of been thinking of Kempton though, Kent could of been a merged team, like Hounville and Franklin did.

Hmm "Kent Town" DOES ring a bell ... though a search of the 4300 clubs in my index doesn't come up with ANYTHING for Kent (which is odd as youd think there'd at least be a team with Kent WITHIN its name).

Kempton also rings a bell ... in the Oatlands DFA I think ... and known as the Magpies!

Kempton in Oatlands is spot on.

You didn't come with anything at all for Kent? Unless you limited that to Tassie (and you may have) you should have found Kent in WA! Not that that means anything! :)

Nope. Didn't find a Kent in Tassie, either!

I remember a player playing for I think Burnie they said that he played for "Kent" although that probably doesn't help much becauase Burnie has had many main land players play for them so it could of been Kent in WA. And I probably was thinking of Kempton. Too many teams with the same name :D
