Who do you think can become A graders from our list?
For me
Hurley
Gumbleton
Melksham
Pears
Ryder
Dempsey (according to Jobe)
Riemers
Hurley
Gumbleton
Melksham
Pears
Ryder (Very close to been one already)
Zaharakis (or very good B+er)
Travis Colyer ( has X Factor ,still very young)

Ryder
Hurley
Gumbleton
IMO Ryder is very close to being an A grader.
Hurley
Zaharakis
Pears
Jetta
Melksham
Gumbleton
All have displayed traits that suggest to me they are capable of becoming A grade
Ryder has the biggest star "factor" out of that lot. I'm tempted to include Reimers too - he has all the tools to become a bona fide A grader whether he wants it enough is a different matter.

Ryder is close, if he could do what he did against adelaide is big games, he becomes A grade.
Hurley, Gumby, Melksham, Pears, Zaharakis, Dempsey (either on a wing, or if he tightens up on defence) and i really hope Myers does.
Reimers i feel has that X factor but may never become A grade
dempsey & atkinson would be a-graders @ another club

I am liking the improvement in Jetta...hopefully he might get there
Very confident
Hurley
Melksham
Possible
Pears
Zaharakis
Ryder gets to A on talent/potential, but probably sits just outside it due to not massively breaking open games (consistency), a la Anzac day 2009
Hurley

7 A graders is extremely optimistic.
Paddy is closest at this stage and i'd say only Pears and Hurley have shown enough to say they can become A graders after that.

Ryder
Hurley
Gumby
Hooker
Pears
Zaharakis
Reimers
Melksham
Myers
Still
If somewhere between 40%-60% of these become A graders, and a few more become B or B+ then we're looking pretty good.....
.....Gumby being the most pivotal of all imo.
He becomes a gun and we're in a pretty good place.
If Zaharakis plays as a midfielder I can see him getting there. Pace to burn (who remembers him showing Montagna a clean set of heels in a race for the ball against St Kilda this year), good skills. I'd love to see him play on the ball for the rest of this year.
Melksham will get there when he adds some bulk and has another year or 2 in the system.
Hurley will get there but only if he gets settled into a position. If he continues to be a swing man he'll by a B grader.
I reckon Hooker will, in time, be better than Pears and will be an A grade CHB.
I'll reserve judgement on Gumbleton until he puts on some bulk, and then see how this impacts his endurance. His ball drop will prevent him from ever being an elite kick for goal (though there are very few elite kicks for goal in the comp these days).
That's about it at this stage.
Very confident
Hurley
Melksham
Possible
Pears
Zaharakis
Ryder?

Goddard is a top 5 player in the competition (IMO) and he is the definition of 'swing man'
Don't understand what bow your trying to draw here.

What a difference a year makes :thumbsu:
Zaharakis has improved in leaps and bounds. He's a great kick.
Melksham is going to be very good when he bulks up a bit too.
Hurley if he settles into one position. More likely an A grade back than an A grade forward though IMO.
Ryder if he can start breaking games open and dragging the side back into it. Being surrounded by quality mids won't do him any harm either.
Hooker and Pears.
...anyone for T Slatts?

Yes, Goddard is a swing man and top 5 in the comp. Let's compare every swing man or potential swing man to Goddard, therefore they will all be elite.
Hurley is potential elite for sure, but I don't think it is doing him any favours playing him forward and back from quarter to quarter, week to week. Let him settle for a while and develop without having to change mindset so often, then start experimenting with him as a swing man when he's playing good consistent football.
More than likely
Ryder
Hurley
Pears
Gumbleton
Melksham
Could possibly
Myers (if plays in midfield / on ball)
Zaharakis (if plays in midfield)
Dempsey
Carlisle - Is an interesting one, I've seen him play a couple of games in the VFL and whilst he did not have a huge impact or get heaps of the ball, I really like the way he moves and presents himself. Could be a potential A grader in years to come.
IMO Zaka is more likely to become an A grader than Melksham (who I also rate as a potential A-grader)
IMO Zaka is a bit underrated around these parts.

- Ryder - probably just below being an A Grader at the moment, should get there.
- Hurley - settle him somewhere please.
- Pears - The next Brian Lake.
- Hooker - Could be the next Fletcher. (Imagine the run out of the backline we will have if Hurley plays back, Hooker and Pears will carve up)
- Melksham - Finally a gun midfilder who looks a certain A Grader!
- Prismall - Okay, just kidding.
Ones people have suggested that I disagree with:
- Reimers: Don't think Reimers will become an A Grader, although definitely has the tools.
- Myers: Won't happen IMO, could become a B grader, but can't see him becoming somebody who rips a game apart, hope I'm wrong.
- Zaharakis: unsure about him, will more likely be a B Grader IMO, hope he goes into the mid also. Gotta love Zaha.
- Colyer: Yet to be sold on him, sure he is fast and takes the game on, but hasn't convinced me has the skills yet.
- Jetta: Will never be an A Grader, just not gonna happen. He is playing much better this seasons however.
- Still and Carlisle - way too early to predict this.

Pears and Ryder will be our best 2 players over the next decade. (IMO)
I'm probably one of the few who rates Pears more than Hurley - just think he will be more consistent over the journey - while Hurley will have more individual standout games.
Too early to call on most our our midfielders (ie Zaka and Melksham) yet.
Agree with most of the players mentioned so far - Ryder, Hurley, Pears and on.
Prismall - Okay, just kidding.
I used to think he could become an A grader but hasn't really gone as planned.
What do other people think about Prismall and his potential:o?

Hopefully this goes better than the Jay Nash Brownlow thread.:o
Hurley, Ryder, Dempsey, Melksham, Zaharakis, Gumbleton, Pears, Hooker
Not enough midfield names there.
Watson and Fletcher are A-Graders already.
Heaps of players are potentially A-graders but that only means that we have a lot of unproven players.
The one's of those who have shown the most would be Ryder, Hurley and Pears, I'd think.
IMO Zaka is more likely to become an A grader than Melksham (who I also rate as a potential A-grader)
IMO Zaka is a bit underrated around these parts.
Not with me Smyth ;):D

Sums up my thoughts on this entire thread really.
