Then there's the shuffling of players out of the spots where they are most likely to make a mark in the long-term. If Sam Lonergan isn't going to make it as a midfielder, he's even less likely to do so as a small forward.
Courtenay Dempsey has shown time and again he is too loose to be a long-term defensive option. But there he stays, on Saturday night swung on to Mark LeCras after the Eagle had carved up Heath Hocking, another midfielder converted to defender. David Zaharakis has more talent and nous than most of the Essendon midfield, yet has languished in a small-forward role to which he is not as well suited.

Funnily enough, a decent article. :thumbsu:

A lot of what's in here has really been what a lot of people on here have been saying all year.

" But the Bombers cannot even decide what their best line-up is, let alone in which positions they should play"

"Myers and Howlett have shown subsequently that they have what it takes, both part of the Dons' best two wins this season, against St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs"

Have to agree with this and a few other statements that he makes in this article. Actually the best assessment I've seen of where we're going wrong.

When you have players out injured or suspended, of course you have to switch player positions around. When we had Fletch & Pears out, was knights not supposed to put other players in their positions?

You miss the point. A lot of the players listed in the article do not fall into that category.

You also have the option of bringing in a replacement for the position vacated by injury/suspension.

I'll never understand how someone like Jarrod Atkinson, who seems to fit that running, attacking gameplan perfectly, fails to get a regular game.

Whenever he plays he makes a decent impact, gives us some much needed run out of defence and through the middle.

Thought this article was spot on. Sums up the whole situation perfectly.

If Knights is going to see out his contract, he needs to show something by the end of the year.

A wise woman I once knew told me, actions speak louder than words.

I hear what the players are "saying" about supporting the coach, but their "actions" on the footy field paints an entirely different picture.

Will they turn it around and save his bacon? Time will tell.
