Don't get too carried away with the win over the Dogs, it really wasn't that good.
Apart from the 1st Q and the second half of the 2nd Q we played only average footy.
In fact we were well and truely beaten in the 3rd Q.
The players know it wasn't that good because Mooboy on the Sunday said on TV, "I don't think we played that well".

Don't get me wrong here, we can only beat the teams we are put up against, and I will take any win, but the Dogs really are c.rap.
We would need top play a lot better against those teams around and above us to be a real threat.

I think that's the thing good about the win. We thrashed them but it wasn't anywhere near our best footy. When we thrash a lowly team I like to think if we were playing near our best, if we was I would be a bit worried.

I didn't see the win but I certainly don't think the Bulldogs have been that terrible of late. They've mostly been competitive then just fallen away at the last hurdle. The problem with beating poor teams but not playing at our best is how do we get ourselves back to our best? I think this week against the Roos is going to be the best indicator.

The game was rather like the win over St Kilda. The opposition was so poor that it diodn't matter most of our players are out of form, we beat them with structure and teamwork.

No insult intended to Footscray, their woes are well documented and recognised. If we play like that against a real side like North, we'll get hammered.

Jabso, its a fair point to say good sides play poorly and still win some: an uninspired 7 and 6 is a respectable return when some sides are busting their guts and can't break even. It speaks volumes for Malthouse as a tactical coach that he can manufacture victories with pretty flat cattle.

However we have to play well to beat the good sides, and North is one of them. Otherwise we'll just limp into the finals for a swift exit.

To me the key is Rocca: he lifts, and we will burn.
