On multiple occasions per game this kid squibbs something massively, is it a case of not being able to improve your levels of bravery once you have developed them? or can you use the Goldberg theory from the Mighty Ducks where you hit pucks at him until he realizes there's nothing to worry about?
Can't you just at least wait until Monday before posting negative threads?

On a completely unrelated side note how do you rate Andrew Mcleods courage?

He is no squib. He just seems to misread the ball in the air sometimes and thus it appears as though he is ducking his head. I have seen numerous examples of courage by him over the past 2-3 years.

Agreed PP, lost count of the number of times he has gone back with the flight to go third man up in a contest.
I think a part of the perceived problem is he doesn't play the percentages well, similar to Lovett when a ball is in dispute he often tried to win it by avoiding contact at the last second and sprint away, looks fantastic when it comes off but is looks terrible when it doesn't.

I'm never comfortable whenever an Essendon player is accused of squibbibg. If a player lacks courage, he will be found out after a couple of games and be relegated to Bendigo to roost. I was rather annoyed when someone accused Alwyn Davey of persistantly squibbibg; I think even if Alwyn had put his head in a mincer, this person would not have changed his or her views of hte guy. Well, Alwyn got smashed near the end of the game going for the ball, but I guess that poster thinks it better to just say nothing.
I have, on occasion, seen Dempsey do some very useful things, but I supose trying to get the ball one way or another may seem to some people like squibbing. The running game that Essendon plays, I doubt very much if Matty Knights would include a squib in the list. OK! I've had my rant, let someone else tell me how silly I am.
I ust found this:"Most disturbing for him (Lyons) would be the fact his players showed no spark. They looked slow and disinterested whereas Knights could highlight two selfless acts by his players in the dying minutes.
Sam Lonergan went back into a pack for a gutsy mark at centre half-back and Alwyn Davey didn't flinch as he charged back with the flight of the ball in the final 30 seconds.
Davey got smashed but he'd just done what his teammates had been doing all night - showing up the Saints."

Wouldn't say he's a squib, at times he is tough, but at others he is soft as butter. Line ball really. Won't say anymore, Dempsey is a touchy subject with me and right now cbf battling against those who love him.

But Kyle Reimers can do it because he wears funny boots and has cool goal celebrations!

Watch his attack on the ball and the way he hits packs when its in dispute and then tell me he squibs contests.
Don't think enough attention is paid to such attack.

Look! if you can't sleep, then hit the books -- you're supposed to be studying, not watching footy at 4 am in a drunken stupor. :p:

Do you think studying drunk would be more beneficial? :p I'd love to see those exam answers on Monday morning, lol.
Porridge? He strikes me as more of a half-a-dozen soggy Weet Bix type. Not angry enough to be a Crunchy Nut though.

Dempsey needs 30 more games experience and 1-2 more pre-seasons and he'll gradually go in harder.
He's obviously not a natural, but don't think he's a squib

There aren't many aboriginal players past or present that have been tough at the contest. Not racist, fact.

It's a fair point but I wouldn't label that as squibbing or not showing courage I would say that is on account of playing to your strengths and would be a coaching direction to. Dempsey role is to use his speed, evasiveness and skills to his advantage. He does that best not by going for the hard ball everytime but by letting his teammates do that and using his strnegths once thy dish the bal out to him.
Note: im a bit drunk on the iPhone so excuse the Gramma etc

Dempsey will be one of our most important players in the next few years. He has unrivalled class, when the confidence catches up look out.
This thread should be directed at Reimers. He can play, but shit he can get scared.
Great throwback to the Mighty Ducks btw, classic movies
