View Full Version : LARA back on top!
I must admit that I never thought he would climb to the top of the pile again...

No, neither did I.
Hard to dispute though - he's been in terrific form and made runs against high quality oppisition.
Didn't he break or dislocate his elbow last year & now one arm is shorter than the other?
I agree I never thought he'd get back, I alwyas thought he had more talent than anyone else including Tendulkar but I always felt that he was a bit slack & lazy.

It's funny that as much as he hated it when they took the captaincy off him it improved his cricket though. Best thing that ever happened to him because it made him wake up and think.

Yeah well as we all know Hutton would have eclipsed all Bradman's records if it wasn't for WW2 (& the injury he picked up).;)
But seriously he did suffer either a break/dislocation to his elbow either last year or perhaps even the year before & I read that it meant that it would be slightly shorter than the other one.

Well there's a nice bit of symmetry there for you-which I know that you like.:D
I'm no expert on these things but I believe that Hutton was thought a great allround batsman before the war but afterwards came back as a great technician but perhaps slightly lacking the flair that he had before hand.
Going off on a bit of a tangent but Middlesex CC over here have now got the grandson's of Len Hutton & Denis Compton on their staff as well as Viv Richard's son.
All of them middle order batsmen I think.
I wonder if the bloke there in charge of recruiting or scouting is just a lazy bugger.

Boooooooooooo.
Give Hayden back his rightful spot!
Nah only joking, Lara had a super series against the best team in the world and he deserves it and like a few people said in this thread, I didn't think he'd ever get back up there either...he always seems to lift for Australia.
