Didn't see that one coming!.....Well done Michael for getting nominated for the Rising Star Award.Going by the year he has had IMO (and some in the media) he is a strong chance to Win!...........:thumbsu:
He was the no-brain selection this week. Should finish top 3 IMO.
Congrats... Again :thumbsu:

Well deserved.

congrats to him, well deserved after a very assured and mature game in defense, just to clarify daffo, IMO he wont finish top three, simply because he was a bit out of touch at the beggining of the season (almost first half), top 3 looks likely to be rockliff, trengove and hannebery (any order). Hurley is definately one for the future though
as if you didn't see it coming
30 disposals and 13 marks.
i reckon he has wat it takes to win it

If he has a good month he will certainly get noticed, especially considering we've got 3 finalists to play.
Good on him!.
Hasn't had the greatest of years imo. Would be lucky to finish in the top 3, but thoroughly deserved the nomination for last week anyway.

Yeah fair enough... i see where u are coming from. Although i know who i would take 1st out of the 4. No offence to the other 3, i just see Hurley as the next Brian Lake esq defender.

Gee this award shits me. Even if Hurley wins it. It should rightly be won either by Martin or by Barlow. Make it a flat "best first year" award or a flat "best draftee" award.
hank - what you're not realising (or remembering) about Lake is that he barely played 'til 23 & wasn't any good until he was 25. Hurley, age-for-age, drops upon him from a great height.

yeah i understand where you are coming from, as a supporter you have already developed an attachment to your promising young players, i feel the same about scully, trengove and watts, etc. Wouldn't take any in front of them (please no Watts criticism :() even if others have performed better (martin as an example from 09" or Hill, Hurley and Rich as examples from 08")

Sure.
Even if they split it off - have the rising star (with it's odd qualifications except for dropping the ridiculous suspension bit) and have a best rookie award.
No qualms.

Congrats Hurley, now time for Colyer
Colyer and Zaka still both stiff, and you'd think, unlikely.

Unexpected? Please..
I don't think he will win it, but if he had played the season like he played against the Saints, they would have closed off the betting by now..
I couldn't get over the Bulldogs supporters complaining that it took Grant so long to get a nomination  HE is alright, but nowhere near better than the people who HAVE been nominated..
Quoted at $51 to win the award on Footy Classified last night. Outrageous odds. Finally settling down at CHB and looks the gun player that we all know he is. Superstar in the making.

I don't think Coyler is out of the realms of possibility.
If he was to have another game like he did against North or West Coast, he will be very tough to overlook.
And he will definitely get the next month to play out.

Now at $17. Would have to play like that for the rest of the year to even get close to Rockliff, Scully and Hannebery. Colyer and Zaka deserve nominations. Colyer has really impressed me, for I never would have thought he would have passed Melksham.

Yeah i agree, just didnt want to go too overboard with what i was saying! I remember clearly when lake was young because my doggies supporting mates used to tell me how good he was, i always responded with he will be a B grader at best.. Gee do they make me eat my words now ha ha...

He won't win it and I don't really care. Of all the U/21's of the last couple of years, Michael certainly has the most presence to go along with his football ability. Wait until he gets into the gym (and Gumby)....
Exciting times.

Lake really only became an A-grader when he changed his name. Was the difference IMO.

Don't forget Zaka his still eligeble, hopefully both can get one before the end of the year :thumbsu:
About time. What a great player Hurls is, will hopefully take it out.
Should have two awards
1) First year on a list for under 21's.
2) Players second year onwards and over 21's
I disagree with most on the Rising Star Award
1) Fyffe
2) Trengove
3) Hurley
Hannaberry is too inconsistent to be in the top 3.
