ESSENDON is likely to announce in the next couple of months that it will leave its traditional Windy Hill home for a new venue in Melbourne's north-west suburban corridor.

I don't read the Herald Sun.

To be perfectly honest though, I couldn't give a rats tossbag if we do leave Windy Hill.

Where is your grasp of history, and what about real estate values when they leave.

Where is your grasp of history.

You can't change history. It will be a part of the Essendon Football Club's history, just as the East Melbourne Cricket Ground.

On a day the club welcomed funding of $6 million from the Labor government in conjunction with the Australian Paralympic Committee (APC), it also conceded the options for relocation had increased.

Labor member for Maribyrnong and parliamentary secretary for disabilities and children's services Bill Shorten said the government would contribute to the state-of-the-art facilities regardless of where Essendon was based.

At least there's some good news there. Not sure how much we were holding out for though.

@ Essendon Moderators: Are these stupid quotation rules still in effect? Coz I don't see it enforced on the Association Football board and usually not policed that stringently on the main board. One link + paragraph = all good?

I reckon we wanted more than $6m, probably even above $10m from the Feds.

Did you get a phone call from the EFC to purchase raffle tix at $200 a pop? Therein lies the crux of said raffle tix. I don't recall said raffle last year.

This pissy bowls club should have found a way to relocate somewhere local for the benifit of all.

I'm sure EFC at Windy Hill is more important to the local community than the bowls club (by about a million times).

I hope they go broke soon after we leave.

We have somewhere to land our private jets...

I'd prefer we move to the showgrounds. It's pretty close to the city and it's easier to get to by public transport.

No we didn't, lol.

Let me clarify. You heard the confirmation first here, not the idea.

Someone be as kind as to show where at the actual airport we'd be setting up?

This is the final detail to be determined. Have you seen the amount of land to work with?

The land is over 100 times larger (750 acres) than the area of Windy Hill, is only 3km's away, still in Essendon (border of).

When David Evans stated "Windy Hill is still an option but the thing I can tell you this morning is that the other options available for us are getting more and more exciting as each day goes past". He was then asked if Essendon airport is one of the options to which his replay was - "absolutely Rob it is".

Now I would not form such a strong opinion on just the words above but I know for a fact that the local council have been very generous with their offer of a suitable parcel of land for the development at Essendon Airport and even the Essendon FC were taken aback at the generosity. I believe the "... more exciting as each day goes past" is a direct reference to the Essendon Airport option.

Now I don't disclose such information to gain any gratitude, I am just sharing what I have been advised and I can assure you the info is spot on the money. The only other option at this stage is to remain at Windy Hill.

Bewdy, our own airport!

Anyone have any idea what will happen with the current site? Is the club selling the whole farm? Having never been to Windy Hill I would be very sad to never be able to visit the club as it is.

Here is a crude cut/paste of the airport with the WH precinct superimposed...
hopefully it can be seen..
