View Full Version : Why do all you peanuts want to delist Michael Still?!

Why?!?!?!

Honestly I cannont understand some of you. Michael was recruited as a bottom aged player from the 2008 'super' draft. Due to a great performance in the TAC cup finishing second overall in the goal kicking he was touted as going as a high pick in 2009 so we snapped him up early. Last year the club kept the pressure off him as he finished year 12 and along with this he developed shin splints basically calling an end to his year. So in effect he was a lightly built, late first early second round pick first year KPF this year. He is athletic, has a great set of hands and will benefit from being in the system for a few years building on some bulk.

So why do you idiots want to delist him?! We all know that 99% of talls don't just burst onto the scene unless they are built like brick shithouses and are named Michael Hurley. They take time to bulk up, hone their craft and learn to play with the big boys. We've given Gumby time, we've given Neagle time and we seem to be fine giving Carlisle time, so why the hell doesn't this kid deserve a chance?

I thought this was a joke, but after reading a few posts.. it seems some people do want to delist still.

The mind boggles.

Totally worth of its own thread

I wouldn't let it concern you unless one of those posters was Matthew Knights.

I would be extremely disappointed and surprised if Essendon delisted him.

Most sensible posters do not have him in their delist list, i wouldnt worry about it too much as they wont delist him. It will cost next to nothing to give him another 1-2 year contract and he should really start to push for selection next year after having a full season at Bendigo this year and another pre-season, will be handy as cover for Gumby or Neagle or even as a 3rd tall eventually.

Draw from it what you will.

Think he might be put on the rookie list. Carlisle has gone past him very quickly.

I suggest that most of the posters who have suggested Still could be delisted - are people who regularly watch Bendigo - And at least have some idea of his ability.

Surely a club like carlton with a lack of KP fwds would pick him up before the rookie draft.

No just one. Legend has it in the praccy match where Zaharakis kicked 7 goals and had a million possesions Still took around 10-12 marks that day. I watched him in rd1 of 2009 VFL played at Visy Park and he was close to our best fwd that day... as a 17 yo. Hardly played again all year due to injury. Showed plenty of good signs early this year but has struggled for game time in most matches lately. If you have a preconceived idea about a player before you watch a game you generally look for mistakes rather than good things.

Watched him play one VFL game in 2010 and he was a bit behind Carlisle.

In fact Still and Carlisle would have benefitted by playing some Reserves football for bendigo - But alas there is no Reserves team.

I doubt that is is only one poster (who regularly watches Bendigo ) - has questioned Still's place on the list.

I have seen a little bit of still. I believe that he is worth hanging onto for at least another two seasons.

Shows a bit, Just needs to put on some size, have a couple of full seasons, and then we can judge him.

All talls should be given 4 years of development, I think that we should just consider Michael as a first year player this year.

I think he could be a gun

Still has great hands and attacks the ball really well. He has a ton of potential and will be given at least another 2 years, he could well be a long term option at FF if Neagle doesn't come good.

Bendigo game after Bendigo game..so a fair few.

He doesn't have a presence that Carlisle seems to have already and leads way too far up the ground to have a forward impact.
