I feel to play that flawlessly missing so many top players was a remarkable achievement. It was clear that Carlton wanted to win more than we did and played with that kind of authority.
Even when Essendon was ahead much of the night, we were way behind in the stats and I had a bad feeling that karma would get us in the end.
I actually clapped at the siren...I couldn't help but do anything else.
Oh yes, and thanks to you supporter base, who were generally well-behaved towards me and my partner as we left the ground, save for one or two morons.
Well done guys, but beware the rematch http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/smile.gif

What a nice post Stealth!
In fact, most Essendon supporters have been quite nice after last nights match http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/confused.gif

Well, I'm a bit unhappy with the arrogant reputation that our supporter base has as a whole. I don't like it at all. I suppose all I can do is set an example.
I'm kinda glad we got beat, although not at your benefit http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/smile.gif Now I know it isn't the end of the world. Beats going to a soccer match in Africa and getting trampled to death.

Damn, another Bomber supporter I have to be nice too. You and Dutchman aren't making it easy.
Well done. You too are a gentleman.

Where were you sitting Stealth? How did you find the atmosphere? Don't know about the arrogant reputation thing though. The reputation on bigfooty is a lot different to the reputation in real life. Carlton supporters have a reputation as THE most arrogant supporters in the AFL.
I just wish so many of them would celebrate their teams win, rather than their rivals loss. Some of their supporters at the ground last night were pathetic.

Dan, you have admitted that you couldn't wait to stick it up the Blues supporters should Essendon have won last night. Now, is that celebrating your teams win or celebrating the other teams loss? Do you expect the Blues fans to go off by themselves saying, hooray, we won. Nice and respectful like? You wouldn't have. You would have been stirring them up about how great the Bombers are and how bad the Blues are. Now, I ask you again, What is the difference?
If you do something it is one way but if somebody else does it, you think it is not the same. It is extremely hypocritical. Think about it.
Any Blues fan would have been happier with the win than the Bombers loss. Do you think we would have celebrated Essendon's loss as much as we have if it had have been another team that defeated them? Of course not. Herein lies the proof. We are thrilled that the Blues had a win, the fact that it was the almost invincible Essendon and we were such massive underdogs just makes it sweeter. This is all just another example of unsportsman like behaviour by you to turn your frustration back on the Blues.
All the other Bomber fans have been most gracious. You are just sounding pathetic.

Top of the GSS, surrounded by Bluebloods. Probably the single worst place for a Bomber to be last night. I expected to get flogged as I left, but all I got were a couple guys sayin "sorry mate". It coulda been a lot worse than that.
The only hostility I got at all was a couple teen girls waving scarves in my face. Pretty harmless really.
Was your experience Dan worse than mine?
ive already said congrats, and well done (yadda yadda) on another thread and I dont want to say it too much- you are Carlton after all.
What I do want to say is that you guys have the bragging rights, and you alone. Not Collingwood fans, richmond, westcoast, geelong or any other club for your win over us on thursday nite.
Im pissed off.........but hey it wasnt a final http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/wink.gif We'll be back.
Seems to me most carlton fans were humble in victory and most essendons fans gracious in defeat...with the exception of Dan.
But then again Blues fans on this board wouldnt want it any other way...Dan with egg all over his dial and looking for excuses..Dan kinda makes Jack Elliott look a genius..dont you think?

Great observation Sticks. I just found out that John Elliott's middle name is 'Dorman'.
Maybe if he were to act as the Blues doorman for a day, he would learn some humility and respect?
Yep, well done. Reminded me of that final in '94 where Geelong lost three blokes before the match (sorry to bring that up!).
Your blokes just wanted to win that little bit more. Hopefully some of our players can learn a little from them.
And ODN's - we're not all as bad as Danny boy. Most of us are even human! And after '99 not half as cocky as the media would have you believe. Most of the idiots in here are either unregisterd (shit stirrers) or immature kiddies.
Anyway enjoy the win. Hopefully we'll get you next time.

Thanks Dave. I'll just take your word for the new non-arrogant Bomber attitude shall I? http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/wink.gif
ODN's, absolutely mate http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Serisouly though after '99 there weren't too many of us making too much of last year, until after the GF of course.
Dan is a bit of an exception, at least as far as the dons supporters I know.
