this is a sort of comparrison. 99 i hurt because carlton beat us by a point and we had so much potential, 2001 hurt because again so much potential but the lions were better. 2010 hurts me so much more as fan and lover of footy. i thought in 2006 when we bottomd out that it was a bottom out we had to have to climb to the top again. we started doing that 07' we showed potential, 08' new coach new style kinda knew we wouldnt have a great year. 09' showed signs we could be on the improve just needed consistency. 10' i just dont really know where we are at, we are lost confused no plan no players are making progress. fletcher is going to win our b&f and no offence to fletcher he is a great but for a guy of his age to win our b&f is bad. the other guys in the team need to pull there weight and aim to get to where this guy is. just really hurting as a bombers fan at the moment. the past tradition of the club is when we are backs against the wall we try. I honestly think the bombers turned up tonight scared to play they looked a disgrace. feedback from others? im not giving up on us but i just think we need to re focus and i dont think knights is apart of this. he needs to go along with a few of our fringe players who would struggle to get a game at any other club.

I was at the '99 PF, '00 GF and '01 GF.
'99 hurt a lot and still hurts
'01 hurt a little but it didn't linger, if anything it made '99 that much worse
The round 17, 1999, game is on 7-2 atm, that should cheer you up a bit.

99 and 01 hurts because they were opportunities lost. I still get reminded of the 99 loss by the Carlton clowns.
This year is hurting alot more, because after the good signs of last year, what we needed was consistency. The consistency has been dreadful. The gap between our best footy and our worst is way too big. I can only think of 3 players who have improved from last year is Zaharakis, Hocking and Gumbleton. You can argue that Hurley has improved as well. Since he's gone down back, he's been very solid.
However there are a lot of players that have gone backwards. Prismall, Neagle, Dempsey are the standouts in my view. They are struggling big time. In the case of Neagle and Dempsey, they just simply don't work hard enough. Prismall has lost all confidence in his game, by stupid match commitee decisions.
I think it's time for a cleanout. It has to start at the top. Us as members need to vote out the current board members who were board members last year. This may seem extreme I know, but these board members approved the decision made by Horsburgh and Jackson to resign Knights for another 2 seasons when it wasn't needed.
Next is the footy department. A full review needs to be done. Ian Robson has already said that this is going to happen, but it can't be a quick review. It needs to be thorough and get right down to the nitty gritty of the problems. Get the right people around Knights to get the best out of him. The club won't sack Knights. We all would love to, but clubs just don't sack coaches with 2 years left on a contract. If he had 1 year left, they would entertain the idea.
The next is the playing list. We need to look at these list cloggers and look at players who are either past it, not good enough or not up to it. In the line of fire should be McVeigh, Welsh, H.Slattery, Dyson, Neagle, Laycock.
In my opinion, why 99 and 01 hurt, this is hurting a hell of alot more. I want our club to be successful. I've been a supporter for over 30 years and have been used to success as a supporter and craved it and loved every minute of it. Some of the performanaces this year have been a disgrace and action needs to be taken now so our club can be a success in future years and enjoy every minute of it with our kids growing up.

99 was almost worse than 01, I think.
Wallace, facepalm.gif.
Well I know for sure that 18 wins in a season is more enjoyable to watch than 7. While we'll mainly remember the disappointment of those 2 seasons the fact is most weeks we would have been pretty happy with our team.
99 was almost worse than 01, I think.
Wallace, facepalm.gif.Absolutely no doubt in my mind. Whatsoever.
'99 was ours. All we had to do was turn up and it was ours.
Unforunately we didn't, and Carlton did.
And yeah, Wallis. Watching that now still hurts; you can see a player either side of him (including Fletch), yet he tries to run around Brown (IIRC) and loses our club a premiership.
2001 was Brisbane's to lose. Hird was violently ill and murdered by one of the Scott brothers, Lloyd was sensational and we only fell 3 or 4 goals short to the supposed best side of all time (note my clear lack of agreement on this point).
Still, I doubt 2000 would've ever happened if 1999 didn't. Hird said as much in his book, too.
You guys mean Wallis, right?
Shit. Of course I do.
I've actually never spelt it "Wallace", but I read PP's post without thinking.
So yes, I blame him.

You guys mean Wallis, right?
Yeah, sorry, my misspelling.
Oh good, I thought Terry might have done something I didn't know about.
No, but I hear he's going to replace Campo.
