According to our captain Jobe :''I am the leader of the playing group and if the players weren't happy with him, then I would have a fair knowledge of that."
I think that a few weeks ago, after we lost a string of games, Knights also intimated that he was happy (not exactly those words,) with the way things were progressing. OK, we beat North and then thumped a lackluster Saints after that. But now that we have reverted to Custer's Last Stand replays, I can't think of anything footy to be happy about because the injuns are having a ball. Even John Wayne wouldn't have been happy. :(
Let's not pick on the Doggies because at least half their team is suffering from a virus, and after 15 minutes, they all looked buggered.
I went as far as starting a stupid thread two weeks ago about the finals, and now I feel really stupid.
Can somebody please tell me what we can be happy about? what are we looking forward to next week? and please don't tell me we are going to beat the Doggies in two weeks because they would be over their virus by then.
What can we look forward to? It's no fun gettin thrashed and then walking to Richmond station afterwards.p

The quesiton is more what does being happy with the coach have anything to do with winning football games.
They are paid to win - they are not doing their job. If you are happy failing at your job.........
In business - it's preferable to ahve a boss you really like - in the end though - if you aren't successful it counts for naught.

This is interesting. During the Geelong - Bulldogs game, something that was flashed on the screen contained a quote of what Mathew Scarlet said after the Collingwood game, and it was something close to"Our performance was despicable, and everyone of us was to blame" Maybe that wasn't exact, but it was close to what I can remember.
My point here is that none of the Cats were "HAPPY" about anything after the flogging from Collingwood, and they played with a vengeance against the Bulldogs
I suppose just the fact that anyone mentioned the word "HAPPY" at Essendon strikes me as inappropriate. What the hell! I know I'm far from happy, and I just wonder if anyone else here feels the same. :(

Interesting to also note...
Rodney Eade came out and said that the team was emabassed and humiliated...no excuses...just embarassed and humiliated....
Yet our coach comes out with nothing but priase for collingwood...
I dont want to hear that, i want to hear how pissed off he is with the effort we put in...
and what will be done about it...Oh but he was happy we won the clearances.....

Parts are tongue-in-cheek, but the overall message is legit:
Hearing Hardwick talk after the Richmond smashing today makes me very envious.
“You can be a young side, but when you’re uncompetitive there’s no excuse for it. As far as I was concerned today, apart from the third quarter, we were uncompetitive.
“We, at no stage, challenged Carlton. They got their game up and going early and we couldn’t stop it at any stage apart from that brief period in the third.
“You can put it down to age, but at the end of the day that’s no excuse.”
“Coaches, players, the whole lot of us - I thought we were really poor.”
Compare that to Matty Knights:
"The lesson from tonight is just to watch a well-oiled machine who are just super fit, super strong, who have been building for probably four or five years go about their work. That was just an awesome football team,"
"Due dilligence."
"We've just got to get back to our structures."
"Bullish".
Am not happy, am very very p#s$ed. Not going to blame inept coaches, not going to blame lame brained board deisions on contract extensions, not going to blame slack recruiting, not going to blame gutless impassionate senior players (sorry Jobe, sorry Fletch) , not going to blame honest plodders with no skills, not going to blame talented blokes with no footy brain, not going to blame the game plan (part A or Par) not going to blame the planets, not blaming K.Rudd, J.Murphy (although?), A.Hitler, Sheeds Demetrio, Umpires, Eddie or any other knob.
I BLAME MYSELF - for absolutely f&%$ing loving this club for 40 years. Going through the highs (lots of em) and some lows. never giving up or losing thje faith, but THIS is gunna test me .
NOT HAPPY JAN !!!

It would be a more valuable comparison if you include excerpts from 4 or 5 press conferences.
