Thought it might be time to start a thread on cricket books you have read. I just finished Duncan Hamilton's "A Final English Summer," which is a look at all forms of cricket in england during the 2009 season. Fascinating read- a chapter on different matches from the season, starting with the MCC v Durham at Lords and working through a final match at Canterbury (Northants v Kent). Not so much a history of the season as a look at the development and history of cricket in the different locations and the sides he saw. Really good chapter on T20 where Hamilton rips apart the format, but then realises he is saying the same thing that people said 40 years ago about the formation of the John Player League.

Well worth picking up and going through individual chapters- not one that needs to be taken in a giant gulp- though I did.

What else are folks reading?

Not a big reader but op shops are a gold mine for old cricket books, you never know what you are going to find and they are only $5 at the most. Currently reading a book on Rodney Marsh, its pretty interesting, he is talking about the way he was portrayed.

I've been ploughing through my recently acquired copy of this year's Wisden.

If you enjoyed "A Final English Summer", get yourself a copy of "A Lot of Hard Yakka", by Simon Hughes. Cracking good read.
