So for our supposed A-grader/potential A-grader- would they really get a game in any other team:

Hurley- getting owned by Brown, Watson- cannot use the ball-

We are so stuffed- have the worst defence in the league, a terrible midfield and a bad forwardline.

Those two players were where I had my hope for next year- hopefully Hurley will attack the pre-season and Watson will learn to kick.

I live in hope- its been too long since 2001 or 2002- lift your game.

The board should be sacked for extending the contract (which will cost the club $800 000)- I hope Knights goes.

Crowd figure anyone?

....The supporter who is crying and saying "Go **** yourselves" to the boys during halftime is an idiot.

And Hardingham hit Selwood without the ball and im not sure but elbows may have been to the head, too fast to see but the contact was certainly not low.

It's not that bad man. Look at the team we have out there, look at the experience. Hurley one out in the 50 with brown and the ball coming in like it is... any defender would be getting smashed. He also dislocated his finger in the first quarter.

Yeah an overreaction on my part. I am just so disappointed. Its been so long since I can look forward to the week ahead and say "yes we probably will win" or this player and this player will be our future and where our improvement will come

There are cycles in football but we have been bottom since 2002 onwards. I honestly do believe we have the worst defence in the league which is made to look doubly bad due to our midfield which is bad enough.

I really hope it is just due to our terrible gameplan and Hooker, Hurley and Pears will be better under a new coach next year.

Oh well, we are young but Carlsile has looked good, Hardingham a find.

I hope the board reacts and also is turfed out- there should be consequences for costing the club $800 000 in paying Knights out which should happen tomorrow.

22 Aug 2010, 15:38
Hardingham will not go - he got the ball first and was in mid air. It was a knee to the ribs that caused the injury.

What is most frustrating is how we do something well and then turn it over with a terrible kick or hand ball. It is the skills and decision making that needs work in the off-season. No matter what the game plan is good or bad without these two basics it cannot be executed.

Am a member and not a child. My point is there should be challengers for the board and the current one needs a rev up. The only person I would keep is Ian Robson who is new and has been doing incredibly well so far.

Can you explain to me which business, club or corporation does not kick out people who cost them close to $1m (Knights contract payout)??

no injury update but the way I saw it, Selwood has flat-footed waiting for a bouncing footy and Hardingham went straight through him while jumping to get it. Looked painful (obviously) but shouldn't get weeks IMO as hardinham was focused on the ball and didn't appear to get him high

Wow there are some overreactions in this thread. Yeh you have been terrible the last few weeks, and most of the year, but I don't think the stock of your younger players has gone down that much.

People like Melksham, Colyer, Pears, Hurley, Gumbleton and Ryder have all shown so much in their short careers. You are never gonna win games with the older players you (and Knights) inherited from Sheedy, but these younger players have shown heaps of promise.

Seems like a massive knee-jerk to be writing them all off so early.

Just my 2 cents.

Just watched a McGrath & Neagle 50/50 contest, and McGrath gets away with ease. Neagle had his arms wrapped fully around McGrath, but McGrath somehow still got away. Is he one of the players tackling with his fingertips? Quite possibly. Needs to have a big preseason does Jay, or his career may be cut short at the end of next year.

So what- that is still no excuse to not defend or not show any effort. Have a look at Brisbane Lions injury list...they still won and put in a good performance.

Bendigo will regain Houli, Prismall, Muscles, Crameria, Neagle, Carlslile so will be a better team for it

i would say he plateau'd rather than took another step but he's been solid enough. he looks like a likely one to be able to move from back to ruck to give us some versatility with our talls.

i liked myers on the wing today. that left boot of his and his confidence not to just get it and dispose blindly was promising. he could well develop to be another watson type, but with kicking :p

Carlile has good hands. gotta wonder where we can play him.

Yet Again it takes an opposition supporter to talk sense on this board.

The biggest problem today was the non-performance by the senior players - my definition is 6+ years in the system.

Look at the following players

- Hille;solid
- Watson;poor
- Stanton;shocking
- McVeigh;average
- Slattery; solid
- Prismall;anonymous
- Monfries;poor

And the Brisbane senior players through Brown, Rischitelli, Black, Power etc - performed at a much higher level.
