Was the call levelled at us this time last year.

Interesting to note that two clubs most responsible for claiming this (or at least to which their supporters belong) are now sitting on 11 wins for the year.

Of course Hawthorn could cause a massive upset and defeat Collingwood, but if as expected they lose, both they and Carlton will be qualifying for the finals with 11 wins.

I wonder if those same supporters will still have the same mentality for this finals series.

Last year, we deserved to make the finals more than 8 other teams.

They haven't lost more games than they have won though, have they?

But 8th spot is a fair reflection of the season of the team that finishes in 8th spot. Its all part of their journey and will be good for their development to go through this period. They have to relish the challenge. I'm tipping they'll be active during trade week, and look to the draft to replenish their list. But I can't foresee too many changes to the list to be honest. I'm excited by their young players...

They are also building resilience, something you need in the football business, they're also learning to battle through adversity, something as young men will hold them in good stead. Aside from the win/loss ratio they're on target for the ultimate goal, bringing the great club closer to sustained success.

That's how I see it but then again, the AFL should have never let half the teams into the finals anyway. Hopefully that changes over the next 2 years.

If the AFL gets there way more than half the teams will make the finals.
