Kevin Pieterson ha been dropped from the England ODI squad- he was pretty annoyed and had an abusive angry tweet of sorts.

Does show that the England selectors have the guts to drop their best players...the Australian selectors need to learn from this.

I wonder if that's a sign of thing to come for KP....could he miss out on being selected for the Ashes series in Australia? What would the England selectors do when they sit down to pick the squad for the Ashes series-should they select Kevin Pietersen on form against Pakistan (111 runs @ 27.75) or on records against Australia (490 runs @ 54.44)?

See how he goes for Surrey for the rest of the county season.

Select him in the squad of 16 and give him a chance in the warm up matches. If he doesn't perform then don't select him in the XI

I hope they don't select him :thumbsu:

Form or no form, he'd still be one of the first on the plane if I was them.

Probably just trying to give him a kick up the ass before the Ashes. A certainty for the plane down under

KP as been seriously ignoring his County comitments of late. I would say that this is just a kick in the pants by the ECB. KP will surely get into line pretty quick after this. If not then England have a fair few players in the wing who will get a spot ahead of him. Atitude is everything. If you have a bad atitude then you do not deserve a spot. Roy Symonds is proof of that.

After all, just ask John Snow who was not selected for England's 1974-75 Ashes squad for Australia. Snow was a certainty to go to Australia, but when the late Alec Bedser (England chairman of selectors) said that the squad would play with 100% commitment for 100% of the time they were in Australia (remember, they were holders of the Ashes after winning it in 1970-71 and again in 1972), that's when Snow missed out. Snow would've been England's counter to the pace duo of Dennis Lillee and Jeff Thomson. Add to the last minute withdrawal of England no.1 batsman at the time, Geoff Boycott, and you can see why England lost the Ashes in Australia 4-1.

I never got to watch Snow but from what I've heard about him he was a great bowler but not particularly fast- at least not compared to Lillee and Thommo.

Like Lillee, Snow was as competitive as hell, that's what made him a good player.

I wish Mitchell Johnson had half that much stomach for a fight.

If they want to give KP a kick up the pants ,why drop him from the t20 team? Being dropped from the odi team would be enough. Sounds like they are cutting off their noses to spite... and all that.

Well, they got KP straight into a couple of matches with Surrey, so he can slot into the county set up. Think he made 39 the other night, but hit a solid 116 today in a one day match v Sussex- came in during the first over and batted for almost the entire innings- 38 overs. Comment on radio was he really got his head down and carved out the innings- not being too flashy- highlights of the match will be on the Surrey webpage in a few hours.

Big effort needed from KP in the championship matches- see how he goes this week v Glamorgan.
