View Full Version : Would the Saints deal with us, given the Lovett fiasco?
If the Saints lose again this year, it is reasonable to assume that they'll be going after some additional speed come trade period/draft. I've heard Winderlich and Houli's name thrown around as trade bait, so would the Saints be interested, given the events of our last exchange?
If so, can we get anything decent in return?

Why wouldn't they?
It's not our fault he (allegedly) raped someone.
Why wouldn't they? Not our fault he (allgedly)raped a chick while he was a Saint player

We did not hide anything about his behaviour.
We never suggested he was an angel.
There was a reason we put him up for trade and they knew this.
I expect they would be professional and trade with us again without consideration.

Yeah that's true, but wouldn't there be somewhat of a tension between the clubs? What can we get for Licka?
Of course they would. We were completely transparent about we were offloading him and they went in with their eyes completely open. What he got up to was nothing to do with EFC. The question implies we some how shafted them. The buyer beware sign was well and truly up!

Armitage.
more likely they'll never listen to hird and sheedy ever again, rather than us.

Maybe their "saints footy" culture is not as strong as they thought. Slipped right through the cracks that boy.
The reason we were trading a quality player was because he was a cancer at out club. Stkilda made a mistake that had nothing to do with E.F.C
I'm amazed any club deals with us...we have managed to come out better of any and every deal we've done for years...and yet clubs seemingly fall over themselves to deal with us.

haha yeah.....throughout the 90's we did extremely well, over the last 6-7 im not so sure, but we definately have a reputation of not getting rid of any good players which still rings true, however of late we've been getting not soo good players in return!

Dear god no.
BtG, why are you not a fan of armitage?
what do you think he would bring to the club, pros and cons.
also hypothetically if the board decided they wantd him, what would we have to give up :)

Prismall MkII.
There's a reason Geary, Steven etc. are playing ahead of him.

oh wow, i didnt realise!
do you think any of the following could offer essendon anything on the field?
- Mc Kinley (probably have plentiful of his type already, but maybe)
- Matt Rosa (really like him on the wing)
- Nathan Jones (could help in and under)
- Salopek (older and unjury prone but maybe handy off half back)
- Knights (good forward delivery and goal scorer)
what are your thoughts?

Pretty much.
We are active in every trading season and this year won't be any different.

Salopek is the pick of that bunch, no question, but you'd take any of the last three IMO.
Same reason Quinn played ahead of Houli?
Are you saying that Armitage has no awareness, is soft and has a propensity for hospital handpasses?
Don't see how the Lovett fiasco has any reflection of our dealings last year. It's not like we were as hard to deal with as Port were with Hawthorn.
I wonder if we'll do any trades with Freo lol

Argh no, what I'm really saying is Armitage has played 28 games in 4 years, has never been able to settle and thus you can't expect him to play like a seasoned performer - I take your point on Houli and 100% agree.
Sorry about the misleading title of the thread, I concede that it wasn't our fault with what happened with Lovett, but what's Licka's value to the Saints?

Our Midfield was better when Prismall played.
I reckon we reserve judgement on Priz until he has played one more year coming off the knee injury.
Most players take 2 years to hit thier straps after knee reco's.
However with your point on Armitage, I agree, would not give up something for him, just another depth player, and we need to get rid off some similar riff raff.

They probably can't afford (under their cap) to get anyone established. Even this year they had to mess around with keeping rookies they didn't want, because they were at breaking point.
They'll be more likely to off-load older guys if anything.
I would not deal with Essendon unless they want to give up Stanton.
Everybody else they will want to keep or has little to no value.
Enjoy Mark Williams
Serious? A solid midfielder with zero x factor? You've got plenty of those.

Touche but I'm not putting unrealistic expectations on Armitage, he'll play a role, an imporant role but a role nonetheless.
Prismall was the next star...
P.S. Don't get me wrong, I think Prismall still has a purpose at Essendon.

Steven King will retire so there's some room, not sure about the Lovett situation though?
I think they list an extra rookie so if they reduce that then they can add another veteran outside the list. (correct me if I'm wrong)

Yeh why not? how about Kozzy for M Williams and a cash adjustment, or a draft pick swap.
Yeah Kozi'd probably blossom in a new environment.
And inferior football league.
Do not want. Rubbish player, rubbish bloke.
27 years of age and he's still yet to put a season together.

I reckon Prismall has another level or 2 to go to, where as some others are at their level and thats all we are going to get from them.
I believe that Armitage could be a solid footballer, but like others have stated, we have too many of this type.
Prismall MkII.
There's a reason Geary, Steven etc. are playing ahead of him.
Thats my line.
I have mentioned this previously:D
But an indisputable fact.

Will say that Armitage is one of the hardest guys at the contest - But that is his main strength.
Ben summed it up - Cant get a game before Geary, Steven etc.
