Just reached the 2nd ad break, and no tears.

Already doing better than their older counterparts.

S2 of Masterchef got me hooked, will be watching this one.

Thought it was good fun. They did get one of the kids to talk about his "journey" though:rolleyes:

My favourite is Sam - the cutie at the end who tempered white chocolate. Also loved that pudgy kid who forgot which ingredients to get, but he didn't make it to the top 12.

It's a fun show. Can see a lot of people mainly watching it for the "aww" factor.

Ugh. How are you meant to gauge the quality of the dish when the judges praise every single one?! Hopefully the judges become a tad more critical as the show progresses but I don't see it happening.

I thought the normal MasterChef was a great show but Junior MasterChef? C'mon, the judges say every damn dish is fantastic. Not watching it again.

Watching some of the kids is cringeworthy.

After the first group of 12 were put through/eliminated, the girl that got through turned to the others and shook their hands, saying something along the lines of 'thanks, well done'. Was really weird and awkward to watch, mainly because I've never seen 12 year olds shake hands outside of sport etc.

The greatest appeal of this show will be the opportunity to see obnoxious little over achievers cry. :thumbsu:

I've never watched masterchef but seeing the ads for this, can you imagine what the poor bastards parents are like.

I do question the authenticity of it all tbh.

i watched about 5 minutes of it and i don't think i'll watch much more of it. it's just cheapening the product

Yeah, X-Factor was always going to bomb.

It's a concept that's already been done to death.

Seriously, who's in control of what goes to air on Australian television? X-Factor, Cops LAC, Offspring, Beat the star?
Just horrible shows that would never rate well.

Am I the only one that thought that when I saw the previews?

I watched the first 15 minutes last night and I have to say that it was the most cringe worthy televison I have watched since Harry's World. Terrible :thumbsd:

Watched about five minutes. Got sick of the judges being so careful to praise every single damn kid. I knew it would be like this though. And was it really necessary to make sure every kid got a "participation medal" - a kitchen set?

Yeah, X-Factor was always going to bomb.

It already did bomb, when it was on Channel 10 five years ago.

Makes the decision by Seven to pick it up even more absurd.....

It was better then I thought it would be, my expectations were extremely low though... That little kid who tempered chocolate better win.

Whats more the money they must have thrown at it would be almost obscene. Flying the top 24 o/s, getting people like Snoop Dog to help with the judging..............

Thought the show was pretty good.

The only thing i could cook at that age was cheese on toast.

I expected to see a LOT of funny "kids" cooking moments (mess, lopsided cupcakes, faces in food, etc). I did NOT expect to see 30 odd kids cooking better than I do, under pressure, without assistance/recipes/etc.

I actually enjoyed it, and probably learnt something.

I guess that tells me a few things. My cooking is nowhere near up to scratch. I have a much higher "sickly sweet" pain threshold than I imagined. Some kids are much better cooks than I imagined they could be.

At 8, my repertoire consisted of chocolate bananas, cheesy toast and scrambled eggs. It was a little better at 12, but I don't think I could cook half that stuff today.

I wonder though, how many of these kids have cooked the same dish x1000 to get here, and once their through won't have the variety/skills to continue? It was pretty clear they were given the easiest possible "in" to the competition - everyone knew what they were going to cook before the pantry was "revealed".

No doubt very talented kids. As a television show though just too sickly sweet to keep my interest for long.

Lol and two minute noodles.

Same here. While I think "good on them for having a go", there are a few things that shit me a bit.

1. the praise of EVERY dish by the judges. and

2. -insert name here-'s signature dish is......

I will probably just watch bits and pieces of the show here and there, but definitely wont sit down and watch every ep.

Looks like the show's on the back burner til the Comm Games are done with.

Might get a bit more interesting to see the top 12 under pressure.

Doing far better than their older counterparts in the water works department.

It is obvious that the judges aren't going to criticise these kids too much ... don't know how anyone could expect anything else. Personally don't mind the show. I've only ever watched the season finale of the last Masterchef so it should be good.
