There would prob only be 3 contenders Australia, New Zeland and England.
Australia are fantastic bowling Bangeldesh out for 97!!!
England are good when there on fire and New Zeland well there just New Zeland!!
Would Kenya,Bangeldesh or any of them teams come into the play?

The great Pommie bowling attack currently has Sth Africa struggling at 0/165.

Make that 1/398
Smith 178 n.o.
Gibbs 179
And it also looks like Trescothick has broken his finger and may not bat so England and there "awesome" bowling attack are in HUGE trouble after the first day.

You're much too forgiving for my liking Brett:D a 'flat track' it may be, (although in this country I think the appropriate term should be a 'docile pitch';) -you'll be calling the groundsmen curators next) but that's still no excuse for letting them rattle up 398 off of 90 overs.

Maybe. I don't judge a team by a single day's performance like some others on this board and yes it was a very below par performance.
Still not sold on the new Goughie. Doesn't matter how much he puffs his cheeks out and beats his chest, he's still not the same bowler as the one that had the most devastating toe-bruiser in the game for a number of years.
Yes, I know he picked up a couple of one-day hauls this season but that was against guys having a flarp and not test cricket. Get hm out and let someone else have a trot.
Anderson, being young, will take some time to get the consistency, as we saw yesterday. Freddie looks the finished article though.
Dipper, what do you make of Harmy? Fair player or a long streak of ****?

It's to your credit not to judge them on one day, although for me it has just knocked back that little surge of optimism that I was starting to feel.
It's not the taking of only one wicket in the day that's unforgivable(although it's actually more worrying) it's the giving up of such a huge number of runs that they deserve to have to do 50 laps of the outfield & have naughty boy nets after the match.
I'll start with your question first because it's one of my favourite topics, I used to be very much of the view that he was a very long streak of the yellow stuff, I thought he was gutless & overrated.
When they brought in Simon Jones last summer I watched most of the match & thought yeah this bloke's really got something I liked his attitude & really thought that he could blast people out (after all he bowled out Tendulkar didn't he?) so I was gutted when his injury meant that he couldn't play anymore & they brought in Harmy, he didn't really impress me at all at first-he had thta Mullaly ability to get a fairly acceptable economy rate going by virtue of bowling so many balls that the batsman could barely reach.
He still hasn't done much to impress but the fact is that the potential is there, but will it ever be fully utilised?
The thing is that he can bowl a fast pace without seeming to put too much effort in (one ball of 94mph yesterday) & he also has that steepling bounce but................. he hardly ever takes any wickets.
The problem with him is that he has very little control, with his physical attributes he should realise that to be successful he needs to put the ball on the spot, ball after ball & over after over.Basically he needs to copy McGrath or Ambrose but he just can't do it & with out that he'll never amount to much.
Like the 2 I've mentioned he doesn't seem to swing the ball much (if at all) so days like yesterday when there's nothing much there for the swingers like Anderson & Gough are the days that he has to push to the front of the queue & bowl long spells on off stump short of a length & bore the batsmen into mistakes but he just can't do it.
So whilst the potential is there I don't think the desire & technical proficiency are, I'm really much more hopeful of Jones if he recovers fully from injury(it's a big if though even if he is already bowling again).
As for Goughie, yeah he didn't look up to much did he?But really is Kirtley going to do any better? He strikes me as pretty average & not the sort of bolwer who would have changed anything on a pitch like yesterday's.
If Gough doesn't improve I wouldn't mind seeing Mr Angry (Steve Kirby) given a go, but also in the tall, keep it tight, not too fast category I like the look of Chris Tremlett down at Hampshire.
As for Freddie he bowled well to the left hander didn't he?Beat him a lot coming round the wicket, I know that he gets the tough job bowling to contain when the batsmen are going well on flat pitches & he does it manfully but he really does need to satrt taking wickets (& scoring runs!:D).
Anyway Tresco's fractured a finger so it looks like Thorpe might be back for next weeks' Test, which is a good thing (though not at the expense of Tresco).
