Just back from seeing this movie.
Should state that unlike JR#8 Im not a Scifi or UFO buff but thankfully you dont need to be to enjoy this movie.
Ends with a new beginning so there will be a Skyline 2.
Looking on Wiki they claim the production budget was only $500,000 and total budget including CGI was under $20M. The only thing I would say I thought the movie could have done with more lighting in many of the internal scenes.
The film is about a group of friends who meet up in a 20 storey apartment in L.A. for a party to discuss their future working together. Pretty soon these people will find out that Kansas; or in this case; L.A. has gone bye, bye.
It is about their fight for survival. The basic human instinct of 'do I go or do I stay?' As some characters leave others join to keep the basic conundrum and hence group conflict going.
Cannot say there are many light moments in this no sex, no nudity film but David Zayas who plays Oliver gets to steal part of the limelight..if only for a brief flick of a second.
Good to see Donald Faison (terry) from Remember the Titans play a stronger role.
Good film, the fight for survival. Scary future, what you do?

Going by the trailer, looks like possibly the worst film ever made. Fortunately, I'll never be able to confirm this.
Is it similar to ID:4 might go watch this movie tomorrow...

Saw it tonight..horrible HORRIBLE movie. Didn't enjoy it at all. The only good things about it were the CGI and Scottie Thompson (Lead actress). Half the time I didn't know if the film was serious or doing a skit, some parts were THAT lame. The acting was cheesy and overall it was just a waste of time for me.
2.5-3/10
P.S. This is just my opinion. Some of you will enjoy it (as RustyHawk did) but personally I hated it.

Saw it last night and thought it started well, the whole "lights" thing was cool but then it just went a bit downhill. I didn't think it was terrible, but as the poster above said, it was a bit lame. The "ending" in particular.
It seemed that the blatantly ripped off some section of War of the Worlds and other alien movies. Which was a bit of a cop out.
Would prob give it a 5/10. It had the potential to be a lot higher.
OK so I managed to see this today.
Overall I didn't think too highly of it. Non-existent story, crappy characters but it did have some decent special effects for a low budget film. Ending was horrible.
Hopefully, Area 51 is much better. Which it looks to be a more "realistic" UFO movie.
Can't wait for that.

JR, if its UFO films you're after, take a look at 'Battle: Los Angeles' out next year and starring Aaron Eckhart and Michelle Rodriguez.
If the trailer is anything to go by, than this movie will trump them all:thumbsu:

While I agree with you that the movie looks awesome stabler, Area 51 has a more "authentic" feel to it.
It seems like it explores the mysteries of Area 51 and UFO's in general, which is what I love.
But no doubt "Battle" looks set to be an action packed blockbuster.
Also, if anyone is interested in an old UFO film which is similiar to Blair witch in the "hand cam" aspect check out "Incident at lake county".
It's pretty old and low budget but creeped my out when I watch it the first time. Was fairly young though!
P.S Brittany Daniel is such a babe!

The ending seemed rushed; as if they wanted to make a longer movie but ran out of time or money.
Was alright. Can understand why a lot of people wouldn't like it at all though.. Ending was..... interesting

Skyline is galactically awful
My rant begins... now.
The new alien invasion sci-fi flick Skyline debuted on two lists last weekend. The top 10 box office earners in Australia (at number 3)... and any audience member's list of the worst films of the year.
For Skyline is truly, wholly and mind-numbingly AWFUL
For the rest of The Age reviewers description of this...film...click on the link above.
I have no idea how anyone could even believe there was a chance of this being good, the trailers were AWFUL.
Unless you're an old crazy, schizophrenic crackpot who resembles the appearance of mantis and believes in UFOs then you'd have the sense to know this was going to be a huge pile of shit.

The trailer was indeed abysmal, and no amount of editing would've saved it, even with all the eye candy... but we saw it anyway. *facepalm*
I'm a naive twat.

Ending was interesting as someone mentioned, but interesting more in a bad way :D

So how did this movie turn out?
Oh that's right, STFU.

I knew the movie wasn't going to be that good. But I was still interested.
I'm saying you are naive because you keep banging on about how UFO's don't exist. You honestly think there is no other form of life in this universe besides us?

Oh really?

That's a direct quote from the opening post.

I like how you avoid the question. Naive. :thumbsu:
Yeah I probably did make some stupid comments like that in excitement but I honestly knew it probably wasn't going to be that good.
