Brilliant.
Everyone loves Fletch but I really like Howlett too...hope he has a massive pre season.
Yeah I have big hopes for Howlett.
I reckon he could surprise quite a few people next year, with a full pre-season.

Does this spell the end for Lonergan?
Hopefully.
The guy's had long enough, and with the improvement of guys like Howelett, Myers, Zaharakis and Melksham, I can't see him lasting.
He'll be lucky to surive this trade period, IMO.

No doubt he would be hard to tell. I like him too, but I think he is taking up a spot from someone who could be developed.

Lonergan has to go...he offers too little too often. I admire what his done but some of Knights' favorites need to go. Lonergan is one, and H.Slattery should be another.

Great to see Fletch sign for another year. I also really like the look of Howlett, hopefully puts in a huge pre season.

Terrific news to be keeping Howlett next season, should be an important part of our midfield rotations next season.
With Fletch, give him another 10yrs if he wants; has served us outstandingly. :thumbsu:

Great news, if anyone deserves to get to 400 games it has to be Fletch!
The old and the new.
I have big hopes for young Howlett - will be a huge in the mid-field for us I reckon from 2011 onwards. Fletch just keeps on keeping on :)

It's a shame that he has missed so many games in his career, because 400 would have been a real possibility.

I'd really like to throw several punches at the next poster who criticises our reappointment of Fletcher.
I would really like the internet to become more interactive to allow people to physically hurt people.
Can't have everything.
 Who's criticised it?

Not sure who has in this thread but now that you mention it...
I am still not sure- would have been okay with him retiring though. I think (I know I have said in the past that Fletcher should retire but he would make the right decision as he knows best) he has made the right decision for the following reasons:
-new coach with a new gameplan emphasis on defence- will be good to have fletch there to impart this knowledge and share how to approach the game.
-we need his experience as we have lost a lot of senior players and it could be beneficial.
However he needs to do three clear things next year:
1) Coach must tell him not to take kick ins unless the game is incredibly incredibly close in the last quarter. Players such as Hurley, Pears, Hooker should have this responsibility as they will be doing it for the next 10 years and need to learn in a match situation.
2) Transition our players to the fact he will not be there in two years and tell them their player is THEIR responsibility. I do not want to see Fletcher constantly helping out his teammates becuase his teammates zone off and are ages behind players on the lead.
3) Retire at the end of next year unless we somehow manage to finish in the top 4 which will not happen. Players such as Danniher and Slattery need to get games into them which is why I would seriously have had no problem with Fletcher retiring this year.
the coterie groups did R.I.P fletch.lol.
That group is a joke.

The last coach tried that.

Fletch needs to play all 22 games next year to reach 350.

Still 22 games next year, across 24 rounds.
If we can get another 10 years with fletch mabye he could be playing with his son:eek:
My sources tell me (8 year old cousin who is in the same class a Fletch Jnr.) His son is quick as and the longest kick in the class (no surpises there)
