Stories all over the net about a sequel to the Aussie horror being made. The first one scared the sh1t out of me.

Not surprising given the $29m disaster Rogue turned out to be.

McLean doesn't have to worry about raising money for Wolf Creek 2, probably his main motivation for a sequel.

Interesting that Lightfoot isn't involved.

He's either...

1. Too busy as he says.
2. Fallen out with the director OR
3. Thinks the script is a dog.

I thought the original was waaaay over-rated. A sequel is hardly required. I guess money talks though.

I thought the first one was great but not so sure it needed a sequel either.

here's hoping its all on Mick Taylor rather than his actions.

as a character he's quite scary and deserves to be in a film where the focus is on him, maybe his backstory, and not just "look at this new way of killing".
The reason hannibal lecter worked is that he was a person, not a monster. if this film makes mick a monster then it will be a bucketload of fail.
if it makes him a nasty psychopath like the first one did it will be a pile of win.
No middle ground - hit or sh!t!

John Jarrat has a nasty side, he was able to let that out in all its glory when he played the role of Mick Taylor in a movie destined for late night showings like stone or natural born killers until he probably produced the most realistic portrayal of a psychopath you'll get!
Therefor i'd say this movie would need to be about that character, maybe since there is an interest we the movie public could be educated about how our society creates the sought of monster in these films!?

I must confess that I haven't ever seen Wolf Creek but from what I've heard and seen of it, it would be one of the best Australian movies ever made. That cover art of the video/DVD is creepy as well.

I watched Wolf Creek for the first time when it was on Go! recently. I thought it was a great movie, however I didn't really find it scary and I wonder how much they cut out for commercial TV. Can anyone tell me how much difference there is between the cinematic version and the FTA version? I'm guessing that they cut out virtually all the gross bits.

(Sorry to dump this in the WC2 thread, but I didn't want to start another thread for one question).

Well, I'm not sure what was and wasn't show in the commerical one, but I'm sure most of the ultra-violent and graphic scenes were cut, unless it was shown at a very late timeslot.

I'm guessing you didn't get to see the old guy's brain splattered all over the road?

and that is what it's about. apparently it's how mick became mick and traces the development of mick the nutter.
hopefully it goes into why he's doing what he's doing.

and the poster that saw it on tele - its one of those movies you see being given a run on tele and think "why bother" because they're going to cut most of it out!

I dont understand the need for a why.

Because he is a sick bastard who gets off on it perhaps?

i think the thinking is that if there's an explanation of how mick the normal bloke became mick the nutter it humanises him and makes him more frightening?

Lighty is a massive Port fan and Wolf Creek 2 is definitely happening.

I can't remember it exactly but the scene you mentioned, when he got shot they showed the blood splatter on the window and the fella in a crumpled heap on the side of the road. I can't remember the brain splatter being all over the road though.

Maybe a little bit but nothing too serious I think. Besides, it's completely Australian and a great portrayal of our country-side, I think the Chainsaw Massacre one was more "brutal cruelty", if that makes sense.
