Crank 2 - Pretty decent & pretty much the same as the 1st but a little wilder worth a look 6/10

Couples Retreat - I hated it, it was forced and was hardly funny 2.5/10

The Invention of Lying, with Ricky Gervais.

While it got off to a promising start (some genuinely 'laugh out loud' moments at the beginning :thumbsu:), about half way it went downhill, to the point i was wondering 'did the writers just give up on the movie". The ending was just sloppy and not even funny. :thumbsd:

Could have been SO much better.

Is that the one where there's a guy crawling through dirt who talks to the camera? Think he's going to heaven or escaping hell or something (displayed literally, not metaphorically)

Ledger works at a strip club and runs an "errand" but loses money and his dead brother keeps saving him from his boss.

Watched "A Serbian Film" last night to see what all the fuss is about.

I don't think anything I ever see again will be able to offend me now. The most vile story ever committed to film.

I have seen them all (The Guinea Pig series; and the August Underground trilogy, Pig etc) - but this film is something else. One scene in particular..

Ugh, was sick just reading the PA.

And HELL YEAH, i am looking forward to Buried too. In two reviews in the HS it has gotten 3.5 stars or higher. Lol, i am claustraphobic as well, my boyfriend reckons I'm not going to make it thru the movie. :D

Buried!

Loved it, thought it was done quite cleverly considering the plot. (Guy gets buried in the Iraq desert- and the whole movie is set in a coffin and that is IT. No scenes anywhere else in the movie).

7/10.

PS. Ryan I wanna have your babies

PPS. Didnt feel at ALL claustraphobic watching this movie- and having said that I must admit i do suffer from claustraphobia for sure and was a bit nervous going in to watch this. But yeah I was fiiiiine.

THE THIN RED LINE- Had some great scenes, but overall was quite boring, not sure how I managed not to fall asleep. It was the type of movie critics love due to the photography and deep meaning- which in my opinion was pretty flat amd non-existent anyway. Wouldn't recommend 5/10

LUCKY NUMBER SLEVIN- At times this movie thinks it is more clever than it actually is, but that doesn't take away from the fact that his movie is thoroughly entertaining and keeps you guessing most of the way through.
Would definitely recommend if you want to be entertained 8/10

PERCY JACKSON & THE OLYMPIANS- Very predictable and formulaic (so many similarities to Harry Potter), but innocent fun at the same time. Would recommend to children for sure but for adults not so much 6/10

NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN- I found this movie extremely enjoyable and gripping- some of the scenes are unbelievable in the way they are shot and acted. For the first two thirds this movie was on the way to being one of my favourites but it tried to be too smart and unpredictable with the ending. Unfortunately I found the ending to be a real anti-climax to a movie which up until then was top notch. Would recommend but prepare to be disappointed with the ending 7/10

My favourite movie of the last 10 years and probably even longer. A lot of people say the same thing about the ending, but I thought it tied the story together perfectly. In fact the whole last 20 minutes focusing on Tommy Lee Jones is brilliant story telling. Unconventional, but brilliant.

Saw The Town last night. It's nothing you've never seen before and it's nothing you'll never see again but it's so well done that you can't help but love it. The comparisons with Heat have been rife, and they are there, but it's not a Heat ripoff or anything.

Freejack - Lots to be enjoyed, Mick Jagger is hilarious in this and it has Coach Bombay (Emilio Estevez) in it too which is kinda cool it's set in the future of the year 2009 which makes even more cheesier/funny I'd rate it a 6.5/10

Borderland - A pretty decent horror which takes it's origins from a true story also worth a look 6/10

"The Other Guys".

Sorry Will Ferrell, but I am DONE with your movies. You are shit- unfunny- just the same as your films. What a god dam waste of $17.50 + the rest for popcorn and drinks.

And we walked out on it with 15 mins to go- god knows why we didnt walk out earlier- I wanted to, but my bf wanted to give it more of a go.

Even later on he had to admit it was shit and could not care less if he saw the ending or not. So we left.

The action scenes were well made. The scene where Affleck, Hall and Renner are having lunch was genius and thrilling. Nice little balance of humor too. Wasnt too fond on the whole romantic side of the movie though. Affleck definitely has a career in directing.

Yeah I dunno why alot of people rave about that one.

After..... far out cant even remember the name of the movie- a buddy cop flick that was out recently- anyway since watching that one, I've sworn never to watch another Will Ferrell movie ever again/ :thumbsu:

One movie i am looking forward to seeing is with my boy James Franco- 127 Hours. Doesnt come out till Feb next year tho. :(

Twilight New Moon - 4.5/10 seriously corny stuff going on I was laughing the whole way through when I shouldn't have been.

The Road- Loved the book, found it a little too depressing on film. But it was well-made and there was a kind of strange beauty to it - 7/10

Easy A- It was no Mean Girls but a very decent teen comedy. There were a lot of references to older movies that teens would have no idea about so I'm kind of surprised it was as well received as it was. 7/10

The Straight Story- About an old man who travels on his lawn mower to see his dying brother who he lost touch with. As melodramatic as that sounds, it's a very good movie. Wonderful cinematography and score and a fantastic performance by Richard Farnsworth - 8/10

The Philadelphia Story- A lot of great parts, notably Jimmy Stewart's performance, but as I find with a lot of old movies, a lot of parts that just haven't aged well. 7/10

Pretty good 10 days or so with no major standouts.

Watched Kill Bill Vol.1 last night. Good movie, probably my least favourite of the Tarrentino's ive seen (Pulp, Reservoir Dogs and Inglorious Basterds) but still bloody good, even if the whole ninja scene dragged on a bit. Would wife Uma Thurman

Some I've watched in the past few weeks or so:

Harry Potter 7 part 1: Stuck closely to the book which I appreciated.
8/10.

City of Ember: Bit of a kids adventure type film, average acting and Bill Murray's stomach looked weird.
6/10.

Due Date: I don't think Zach Galifianakis should be cast in a main role in a movie with only 2 main characters (whereas The Hangover had a few) because although hes funny, some of the stuff just pissed me off, much better in short instances. Robert Downey Jr. was good as usual but a film mainly in a car gets a bit stale.
6/10

Doomsday: Didn't really expect much but was pleasantly surprised. Had some good action scenes and a lot of variance with the storyline.
8.5/10

The Expendables: Good for watching things blow up, obviously not much of a storyline but who cares, there's explosions.
7/10.

Get Him To The Greek: Solid film, probably one that'd be better watching with mates.
7/10.

Ironman 2: Didn't like it as much as the first one, but not bad nonetheless.
7/10.

Legion: Had a lot of potential but squandered most of it, average film with a lackluster ending.
5.5/10.

The Social Network: Good film.. i think its being overrated by some but it was pretty good.
7.5/10

Machete: A lot of unrealistic violence and the plotline wasn't the greatest but was fairly entertaining anyway.
7.5/10.

Monsters: Low budget and was touted as the next District 9. Wasn't as good as that and the story did lack in areas but still worth watching at least once.
7/10

The Other Guys: I think it really depends if you like Will Farrell comedy. Luckily I do, so thought it was a good movie. Definitely watch with at least one friend.
8/10

Planet 51: Not a bad cast for an animated film. No real depth to the story and its one of those movies how if the character just explained themselves at the beginning the whole thing would have been resolved, which pissed me off.
6/10

Predators: Went back to the grass roots of the original movie which paid off. Much better than all the AvP crap.
7.5/10.

Prince of Persia: Not a bad movie, I've never really played the games so I can compare them or see what should be different though.
7.5/10

Red: Average movie, despite a solid cast. The storyline was sort of crap and Bruce Willis' romantic chemistry with the girl is somewhat.. stupid.
5/10.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice: For a a movie with Nicolas Cage throwing plasma balls around it was actually ok..
7/10.

The Invention of Lying: Had potential but in the end was kind of stupid..
5.5/10

Valhalla Rising: Just plain weird. Got very boring quick.
4/10.

Resident Evil Afterlife: Not bad, not as much plain zombie slaying but was still worth at least one watch.
7/10.

The Social Network. Very entertaining and suprisingly quite funny in alot of places. Highly recommend it. :thumbsu:

Also recommend the Kino cinema- we were in a fantastic cinema (no2), was more like an amphi theatre (?), the seating was high up around the screen, so if you were sitting up the back it was like you were looking down on the screen. Anyway, very impressed- great cinema will go back again for sure. :thumbsu:

Also recently have rewatched Inglorious Basterds, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Snatch and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrells, all great movies.

Cinema
- HP7.1 & The Deathly Hallows... easily the crappiest of the HP movies and IMO one of the worst movies I ever seen at the cinema (behind The Flintstones). Virtually no "fantasy" elements in this movie... a few wizard fights that seemed just like standard hollywood gun fights but with wands going "CRACKKK". No moments of awe or amazement... and too much emo character development... seemed like HP in Twillight as they lived in the woods. Finale, was painfully setup with a bit character "popping" up to make an emotionally speech before making the save and taking one for the team.

DVD
- Legion... a rather good, cool and low budget movie. Angels are such badasses in this.

I'm assuming you have never read the books? Its just that the majority of people that I've talked to who haven't read the book tend not to like it, whereas those who have read it enjoyed it. (probably due to how closely the movie follows the book)

I watched Cop Out a few nights back. If you're into crapalicious, then this is the film for you. Seann William Scott is actually quite funny in this, but the rest, not so much.

Borderline for mine - 5/10
Agree, not great, but not bad. I liked the interrogation scene at the start :)
