Justin Plapp may be a chance. He won a flag in his first season with the development squad.

You would imagine there would be a plan in place as this wouldnt have been totally unexpected.

Plapp, did he play for the Tiggers?

Jumping the gun a bit here. A whole process will have to take place and a lot of that will depend on who is available. I hope we take a similar approach and go for a young coach though.

Could do much worse than give this bloke a look;

http://www.bendigoadvertiser.com.au/news/local/sport/general/bombers-appoint-schmidt/1677081.aspx

I'll put the disclaimer up from the get-go that I've known Lennie since he was a kid but he does have the runs on the board.

Coached Rochester to a flag in the GVFL, which is either the best or second best comp outside of the VFL, depending on who you talk to.

In his role as Bendigo listed players and development coach for the Bendigo Bombers saw them go from 0 wins and the wooden spoon in 2009 to 10-8 and a finals appearance in 2010.

Has played under some great coaches and is a top fella.

I wonder what specific coaching role he will be given. Does this mean the club will part company with one of the current assistants.

Bolton brings great communication skills which is valued highly in today's game. Well done to him and wish him success and hopefully a premiership with the Hawks.

Excellent news. Really rate Bolton.

Be good if Plapp got the Box Hill gig. There's a guy that got cursed by Richmond. Take a junior 100 Goal a year Full Forward and play him everywhere except the forward line :(

This may be out of left field but Essendon is understood to have released assistant coach Gary O'Donnell

He may cost a few bucks but I think he would make a terrific development coach for BoxHill

Have heard these names mentioned so far:
Damian Carroll from Gippsland Power, Steve Grace from Oakleigh Chargers and perhaps Melbourne's ex Captain James MacDonald.

No love for the Reserves Premiership coach?

I know a bit of a step up but has a successful record and knows the boys.

I understand the process of appointing the next senior coach is nearing its completion and an official announcement will be made on Monday morning. 2011 will be a very challenging year with the possibility of between four to six BHH players being drafted/rookied by AFL clubs. In addition GWS will no doubt recruit a number of players from the VFL.

Congratulations to Damien"DC" Carroll as head coach of Box Hill Hawks.

Carroll 37, did well coaching TAC Cup team Gippsland Power for the past two seasons.

Carroll,a brave and durable midfielder was part of Springvale's golden era in the 1990's playing in three premierships.

My mate tells me he is an excellent development coach and is very knowledgeable of all players in the TAC cup this year, not just Gippy power boys. This should be helpful come draft time, as he will also work along side hawks coaches too.

Does anyone know much about Damien Carroll beyond that he obviously did a good job with Gippsland this year and he was a very handy player?

Yeah I have actually. It tells me he was a brave and durable midfielder who has 3 premierships, coached Gippsland for 2 years, knows about other TAC Cup players, and that he is a good development coach.

In itself that is all useful but I don't think it is enough to warrant such a comment. I stand by my question as reasonable in the circumstances.

On face value the comments are positive and that sounds excellent
