It starts in 10 minutes. Australia with an unchanged line-up, pitch predicted to offer a lot more life.

Steve Waugh has won the toss (denying the Bangers a chance to celebrate something) and have sent the opposition in.

Could get ugly.

1/103 at lunch, they're making a game of it.

Looks like a very good pitch. Might have been a bit smug and arrogant to send them in, I suspect Australia would have batted first against any other opponent.

MacGill bowling utter trash as usual - 14 off a single over.

Chance for a ton for the Banger batsmen here.

Yikes, Didnt expect this and I dare say neither did the Aussies. 1/151.

Whats going on? I'm not watching it on TV nor is my local ABC televising it.

Three quick wickets and its 4/160. MacGill has 2 wickets.

MacGill has 5 and it's 7/279. Has the world gone mad?

Bangers look likely to bat out the day. Gutsy performance by them.

Questions must be asked of Australia, why did Steve Waugh choose to bowl?

Bloody MacGill!

It was meant to be a green top. Plus it makes it easier for them to win quickly without tiring out the bowlers. Bangladesh just showed them up because Australia gave them no respect. Lee and McGrath bowled trash.

It's funny that you should mention those two because in my paper here in England this morning it said that the pitch was a greentop due to the rain that they've had up there & that McGrath & Lee were inspecting it looking like the cat's that had got the cream & Lee who was particularly satisfied looking was grinning & saying 'I haven't seen one like this for a while'.

There'sa phrase that comes to mind, something about counting your chickens before they've hatched.

One thing that was notable today was that Australia dropped three catches - two that were relatively easy (Langer & Hayden) and one that was hard but was catchable (MacGill).

Contrart to popular opinion, the Australian side isn't the great fielding side everyone thinks it is anymore. After the 2001 Ashes series, Michael Atherton wrote that he'd never seen an Australian side drop so many chances in a series. And I think the standards in Australia's fielding in the last couple of years have noticably slipped.

The reason for this I think is primarily that Australia is an ageing side, with most of the players well over 30 years old. You can be as professional as you like and hard-working at your fitness, but age catches up with you and it is in the fielding part of their games.

Apart from Ponting and Lee (notably both still in their 20s), their fielding can look pretty pedestrian and it did so today - the brillance in the fielding that was regularly on display in the Simpson era and during the 1990s is only on display intermittenly - and the main reason is because there are a lot of old men in sporting terms playing in the side.

Lehmann and Waugh's chasing of balls out to the boundary today reminded me of Gooch and Gatting when they toured here in 1994/95 - they seemed like portly old men playing weekend club cricket escorting the ball to the boundary.

Oh well at least they are returning the favour now!

Aus - 3/351
Lehmann 156no Waugh 74no

- however, having said that, they do seem more comfortable running 20 metres with pads on than 60-70 chasing leather.

I saw some old ashes footage [1993] tonight on fox and merv looked rather pedestrian chasing the ball towards the boundary - mind you it was the game when he was the only pace bolwer we had apart from the Waughs [Mark opened] - so he might have been a bit stuffed!

I saw that too and didn't Merv have a big ol' sook when a decision went against him! Waving his arms about, stomping the ground and giving the batsmen and the umpire a big mouth full. And people complain about McGrath!

:D now he's got 150 v every test nation.

even though i'm a swans fan... i'd rather be watching australia bat than the freo game, and i notice fox sports is showing higlights of the eng v saf game, and not the aus v bangers match.

his 2003 average is 117.00 (he is 151*)
and i wouldnt mind knowing what his 1st class average this year is either.. couldnt be much less.

Well done to Martin Love on getting his 1st Test Century. He batted very well and quickly.

Bangladesh are 4/106 at stumps. Again another mini collapse. They lost 3/4 after being 1/86. In the 1st test they lost 3/0 and in the 1st innings of this test they lost 3/1.

They really cant have those sorts of collapses.

The aussies will bowl them out tomorrow and win by over an innings.

After seeing the pitiful efforts by BanglaDesh in the World Cup, I think that Dav Whatmore has performed a miracle, judging by the improvement in their standards since February ....

Poor batting preformance by Bangladesh in there 2nd Innings.

Getting bowled out for just 163. Losing there like 9 wickets for just 77 runs. The aussies I think won by an innings and 98 runs.

They win the series 2-0 and now off to the ODI's where they will win 3-0. The 1st ODI starts on Saturday.
