View Full Version : James Pattinson
This kid was impressive when I saw him in the recent CLT20 tournament, good pace, conventional and upright action, couldn't help but see some similarities with old Binga in the way he moves and bowls. He looks an exciting prospect in limited overs stuff at least, good to see him named in our ODI squad. What are the wraps on him around the place, is he seen as a potential test cricketer down the track?

What I've seen of him, I rate him, but haven't seen enough to add much more.

I think he will defiantly play test cricket down the track, he is only 20. Took 6/42 in a ford ranger cup game against NSW last year. Not super fast but bowls in the 140s when he's up and going and is handy with the bat as well. Hasn't played that much at state level because of Vics having a heap of fast bowlers but has performed whenever hes been called up. His biggest problem is he is injury prone, broke his foot last year and has had back problems.

Got very big wraps on him and his inclusion around the Australian squads the last few weeks show the selector like him, but injuries are his main trouble, would have played alot more but he always breaks down by Christmas

Not uncommon for young quicks though, the strain bowling puts on them when they're already fragile due to growth spurts - hopefully we manage his workload properly and don't overdo it until he's big/strong.

Best bowler I've seen as a junior (APS), I dont think he ever took less than 5
ruled out of the ODI tour with early stages of a low back bone stress injury.

Disappointing for James, but good to see Hastings recognised for his fantastic season last summer - he's a perfect fit for One Day Cricket and should be first in line to replace Hopes in the team after the coming World Cup.
Hastings should have been in instead of James and Strac so it's good for him.
Until he gets injured in training.
