Kochi, Sunday October 17, 2:30pm AEDT

Well its more like Australia A v India A with a bunch of players "Rested" for this fairly meaningless 3 game series, though with a sub-continental world cup in 6 months time the selectors have given away a few of their ideas with the squad chosen.

Ponting, Watson and Johnson have been sent home to get ready for the Ashes. India have rested Zaheer, Tendulkar, Singh and Ojha and Sehwag Gambhir and Sharma are injured.

David Warner has been sent over to see if he can blast Australia off to a good start, with the selector believing this could help them win the WC next year, getting a flier before the spinners come on. This despite not opening up for NSW last year.

Damn, there are no excuses for us not to win this looking at the number of Indian players rested/injured, even with the less experience side.

Tough to pick a side, the captain would probably not play in reality if picking the best team ;)

Warner, Paine, White, Clarke, Ferguson, Hussey, Smith, Hastings, McKay, Hauritz, Bollinger

I would probably put Marsh in ahead of Warner but as its experimenting for the World Cup then Warner will probably play.

Axel.

The crowd will be something to watch .. :thumbsu:

KOCHI: It will be a sea of blue at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium when India take on Australia in the first match of the ODI series on Sunday as the 50,000-capacity crowd at the arena will be donning blue jerseys to root for the home team.

This is a first such effort in the country where all the spectators at a stadium will be sporting a jersey of the same colour as that of a team.

"We are just supporting this objective of Nike (official apparel sponsor of Indian team) to create history when the entire crowd at the stadium will be wearing the blue colour jersey of the Indian team. There will be a 'blue wave'" R Karthik Varma, venue tournament director, said.

The spectators will be handed over the blue T-shirt for "free", when they purchase their tickets, he said.

Can't have Paine, Marsh and Clarke in a row like that. Porridge time.

Marsh started swinging properly for just about the first time ever in ODI's when he came in late in England. Send him at at 5 or 6 as he appears to think he's playing for a test spot when he comes in early.

60% chance of rain for each hour over the rest of the day, doesn't look like play is likely.

All the ODI's will be wash outs, Delhi had the worst monsoons in 60 years and the rest of India is in the middle of a massive late monsoon now. Delhi did a amazing job with the CWG, awesome stuff to get all the preparations done with the amount of floods and rains in Delhi.

India and Australia might as well go home now, the ODI series will not be going ahead. They are expecting massive rainfalls all over India in the next few weeks, seems this is the worst monsoons in about 65 years. Usually the monsoons only last about 4 months but it seems all of October and November are going to be rains and more rains.
