"Since Folau signed with GWS in June, he and Carr have appeared together in almost 1500 news items across TV, radio, internet and press.
In The Daily Telegraph alone Carr and Folau have featured in four back page stories, the latest last Monday over the skirmish about being a waterboy for Tonga."

Obsessed much. Talk about backfiring.

The Waterboy story a classic case of overkill turning nothing into something out of spite.

My take a couple of days earlier:

Yes, I did read that article on the Roar a few days ago.. Very well written.
And it has been very good for getting everyone talking about GWS in RL territory, but after October 31 (when his ceases to be an NRL contracted player) I doubt there are going to be as many opportunities for Carr to mention Folau..
Though both Israel and Karmichael Hunt will be getting into their pre-season training soon, and Hunt should still be written about in the Daily Telegraph when he plays for the Suns in the AFL next year..

By then Folau will be an AFL player. A lot of the name branding has already been done thanks to Carr and others reaction in RL circles.

GWS is known, with something like $12M in unpaid advertising of the name. :p

GWS will launch on 16 Nov and be playing in the NAB Cup by Feb. Nice lead in terms of publicity.

Even if you dont follow AFL in Sydney, you would know about GWS.

Some A League clubs after 6 years strive to get a profile outside their own sports followers. GWS has not even kicked a sherrin!

Yeah I'm very keen on seeing GWS play in the NAB cup (and NAB challenge should they be knocked out).. You gotta think they'll be playing the GC in the first NAB cup match, so they've got a team they can actually compete with!!
You're not wrong about the A-league clubs, and you can add to that about EVERY Rugby Union club and several NRL clubs..
