Just watching it now, it is covering the topic of corruption in international cricket (unsurprisingly it has been totally about the Pakistan side to date).

That part of the interview with the CEO of the ICC was cringeworthy at best.

They've got witnesses coming forward with allegations, an 'alleged' match-fixer under suspicion of their corruption people who hangs out with Pakistan in Australia and then an English newspaper who pretty much hands them an open-and-shut case for match-fixing ... and then that balding twat says they can't do anything just yet.

The one thing anyone could learn from that story is that sub-continent's money has put them in the driver's seat in international cricket, and while they are in that seat, corruption is with us for good.

So you are having a dig at India? The facts are that India is driving the wealth in cricket at the moment and a lot of players from Australia, England, India etc are getting rewards that they never got when the West was running the game. It's not the fault of the BCCI that corruption is ****ing things up, the Indian government is at fault on this one.

The GOI need to legalise gambling, it is illegal in India to gamble and the sooner the GOI legalise gambling it will help sport, not just cricket in India, but also the coffers of India as a country, it's easy to make broad statements without knowing the facts. I agree the BCCI are a bunch of wankers as well, but don't be jealous because India is providing all the money in cricket at the moment, get your facts straight before making general statements about countries you have no clue about.

Settle down champ. Interesting that I mentioned the sub-continent but you thought I was having a crack at India specifically. You're not Sunil Gavaskar are you?

I've been doing business in India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka for 10 years, so I've got a fair bit of knowledge about those countries and how it goes about things. I'm not your standard 13-year-old BigFootyer or the regular KKK-hood-wearing India-basher either.

I'm not jealous - India deserves its time in the sun as much as everyone else so good luck to them. IMHO they've not only pumped huge $$$ into the game, they've revitalised 50-over cricket which was dying a slow painful death. They're just doing now what Kerry Packer did 30 years ago.

My comment - had you read it correctly - wasn't having a shot at India. It was saying that as long as the money's coming from THE SUB-CONTINENT, we should get used to corruption because it's just another way of doing business over in that part of the world. Gideon Haigh can crap on about the fabric of the game until his head explodes, it won't change the fact that a Pakistani on $1,000 annual income is going to be massively tempted by $250,000 in a brown paper bag.

I agree that they need to legalise gambling over there, that will help. But even when it is, don't be surprised if the PCB, BCCI, ICC or whoever else is in charge is skimming off the top. There are allegations of it happening at the Commonwealth Games so it's not like there's no precedent.

How will legalising gambling effect match fixing? There will still be dodgy bookies offering payments to players to effect an outcome. I guess gamblers will have an outlet through a legalised and "regulated" system where the bookies are "honest". Gambling is a scourge on sport!
