Who do you think will be getting a game at Windy Hill come 2004? My impression is that Forster-Knight, Mercuri, Barnard, Alessio, McGrath, McVeigh and Wellman won't be on our list anymore, and possibly not one of Bolton/Lucas/Henneman etc. Going on the first three, here is my side:

B: Welsh Fletcher Jacobs
HB: Hird Henneman Solomon
C: Ramanauskas Bullen M.Johnson
HF: Bolton Lucas Rioli
F: Cupido Lloyd Richards
R: Hille Peverill J.Johnson
INT: Misiti Layc.ock Reynolds McPhee
EM: Winderlich Hunt Watson

Wanted to fit the 3 emergencies in but couldn't find a spot

That's a big call. Have I missed something about Wellman? Why wouldn't he be playing next year? And I don't know that we'd get rid of all of those in one go either. And by getting rid of Ses, Mercs, Barney and Welly, that really reduces the age of the team dramatically, and I'm not sure we can afford to be mostly kids (Or more kids than we are now).

Forgive my ignorance, but has Lay**** played a senior game yet? I've gone blank.

Of those you named i only think RFK, Barnard, Ces and McGrath will no longer be with us.

Also think we'll lose Shane Harvey - reckon Carlton will go after him.

Don't be surprised if Essendon play their card extremely close to their chests this year.

Options include elevation of Ben Haynes, Courtney Johns, Ken Hall and Toby McGrath onto the full senior list.

McVeigh and Wellman are safe, as is Bolton.

Cory McGrath, Forster-Knight, Henneman and Davies are probably going to be put up for trade. Mercuri will probably stay on the list (one year left on contract). Alessio and Barnard will retire.

Disagree pazza. You can't get much in return for McGrath Henneman and co as the have done **** all. To get something decent you have to give something decent - which is why I suspected someone such as Wellman or McVeigh may be in trouble. I now wish I hadn't said McVeigh, I now realise it was a very dumb suggestion, we need him. But Wellman, I don't think so. May be offered to Port in a deal to snag Stevens - they need key defenders.

Bozza stay off the drugs.

Ports has plenty of old key defenders - how would Wellman help?

I'd support a Wellman trade. He only has a couple of years left in him and his form has dropped off.

i agree with the pornstar. Wellman can go if someone really wants him. like to see sam hunt in the side next year, he is a super athlete and super kick.

If Wellman went, our backline would fall apart almost as much as it did when Hardwick went.

Wellman's still playing good footy.

Wellman's still playing good footy. Jeez i thought our defense was very good last year; one of the best in the league. Considering they were suddnely missing both Hardwick and Solomon, i thought they did very well.

But we definately lost the drive we had coming out of the backline when Hardwick was there.

Wellman would be one of the last players I'd want to lose right now. It's all good and well to rebuild, and we're doing a great job of it at the moment, but you've got to keep the solid experienced players out there as well.

Especially a guy like Wellman who is still playing good footy.

We could replace him (maybe) but the young guys need the experience out there or it's pointless.

I'm sure Sheeds and co aren't even thinking of letting Wellman go.

Care to name them for me? I can think of Paxman and Wakelin - hardly Wellman's type. I like the look of Toby Thurstans but he always seems to be injured, could be a gun CHB if he got his body right.

Throw in Hardwick, Montgomery,Wanganeen thats 4 older players - you don;t want your entire backline to retire within 1-2 years of each other. If you inlcude Wellman, there isn;t a spring chicken amongst them.
