Some of the guys I believe would have to be included are;
Murray Batt
Stephen Knight
Russell Evans
Russell Boyd
Peter 'Ocker' Stephens
Zane Separovich
Colin Northcott.

Really though, the real team would be tough to pick. After all, 99% of our players were CHAMPIONS!!

Well at least one of them had a great GF so that puts him one up on me... but I am surprised my personal favourite "Skills" Dalkin does not appear in your list. Rather than sticking my neck out I'll wait to see the team then complain about any omissions.

Mudholian, you've got me on 'skills' Dalkin. When did he play?
I suppose I should have included Murray Marrett on my list, do you remember him?

Chris Dalkin, from Collingwood, eight games, two finals 87, sacked 88. Had a back problem. Port said he walked out, Dalkin said he needed a break and it was a misunderstanding. However it's a bit of in joke amongst a few of the people I go to the footy with since they were always raving about him especially since they were Collingwood supporters too. And whenever we talk recruits with big wraps someone mentions "Skills" which is probably very unfair.
Now tell me about Murray. Can't remember him.

Mudholian, you have answered my question on Dalkins. I was overseas for most of 87, so I never knew of him.
Murray Marrett played around the mid to late 70's, I'm pretty sure he was Paul's brother. He played mainly reserves, but got a couple of league games, and I mean just a couple. He was a big skinny geeky looking guy with very limited skills, but he had the ability to do the freaky stuff.
Macca19, I think you mean Geoff Phelps. Russell Evans played in the early 80's alongside Knight and some of the others. He was really short, skinny and pretty much useless. http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/biggrin.gif I think he ended up at Westies, which shows just how good he was. I must congratulate you on Gary Smallridge, well done on remembering him.
I have one more to throw in: Brad Gotch.

Being serious, I think this is just about impossible to do. I have been a Port supporter for 25 years and even to name the best team of the last 25 years is impossible. Bob Quinn will probably be the best judge of this team as he has been around the longest, but how would you rate players like Harold Oliver or Shine Hosking from the early 1900's. There wouldn't be a person alive today who has seen them play.

I guess the 10 year old Crows didn't have this problem when they pick their team.
