Makhaya Ntini, the South Africa fast bowler, has announced his retirement from international cricket but will continue representing domestic sides. Ntini will be given a farewell during the Twenty20 international between South Africa and India at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on January 9, when he will make his final appearance for South Africa.
An emotional Ntini, fighting back tears, announced his decision .....
It is really hard to think of a more influential cricketer to play the game in recent times. What he has done for South African cricket is almost beyond words. All this and without much fuss at all. He spends much of his spare time traveling to townships just playing with kids who live in poverty, kids who who love and addore him. You never hear about what he does over here or are able to really know what he has done unless you have actually been their and seen it yourself.

A true hero in every aspect.

Oh yea and he was a bloody good bowler as well.

Have to admit it took me a while to warm to him, but seeing him year after year giving his all, clearly enjoying what he's doing he soon turned that around. Fantastic player for the game :thumbsu:

Probably my favorite non Australian player. Still remember when he was just starting out a tour of Aus, being 12th man against Australia in an ODI, just sitting down the boundry having a chat with me and my cousin. Great bloke.

I went from booking a ticket to South Africa to punch him in the face to developing a man crush on him on the space of about 5 minutes after he felled Langer in his 100th test I think it was.

Great bowler test average of around 28 which is excellent these days. Just kept giving his all. Great player to have in your team.

One of my favourite actions to copy in the backyard with mates :thumbsu::p

the wide crease approach with the double arm raise
