View Full Version : I hope we keep losing
Yes, I hope we get humiliated in the Ashes. I hope it's our first 5-0 loss. I hope England win on Australian soil for the first time in decades. I hope it is such a disaster that Cricket Australia finally become accountable and make changes.
Frankly, the only way I can see things turning around is if we perform so horribly that CA are forced to sack Hilditch & his cronies and replace them with people who aren't short-sighted morons. And frankly, I wouldn't mind seeing Sutherland replaced either. Clearly, we need to absolutely hit rock bottom for change to be made. So in a way, I guess I hope we do. I'm sick of bandaid fixes - we need serious change.

i still want us to win :)
I want us to win and thrash the brits 5 zip :)
I was sickened when we were at the peak of our power people thought they should gimp the aussies for being too strong :(
I enjoyed our nearly 2 decades at the top and look forward to getting back up there.
I don’t know which is worse right now. The team or most of it’s so called supporters.
I'm torn. Would love to smash the poms, but then the selectors would be patting themselves on the back and nothing would change.
Unfortunately I'm expecting a 3 - 1 loss, with 'honourable' enough performances for things to remain the same, Hussey and North to score tons again right on the brink to keep their places, youngsters dropped.
If Australia win then "all will be right with the world." Ricky Ponting will still be regarded as one of our greatest leaders rather than the inept and clueless leader that he has proven to be.
What I want to see happen is that Australia lose. They fire both Ponting from all forms of the game at the national level and select a captain other than Clarke permanently in ALL forms of the game.
If Ponting cares more about playing for his beloved Tasmania then let him play for them. Just don't give him national selection ever again. It appears he made his own decision and it wasn't for his country.

i'd like us to spank the poms, trouble is even the most apathetic, dimwitted and clueless cricket fans are catching on to the fact we need serious change, change that unfortunately won't come voluntarily and will need to be forced by a disastrous defeat at home
and yes sutherland should go aswell. its all happened on his watch
Call me unAustralian but, I couldn't give two hoots about the Ashes this time round, I only care when they are played in England.
I want us to win the Adelaide test since i'll be there but couldn't give a **** about the other four.
My post Ashes XI should I replace Hilditch:
Watson
Hughes
Ponting to retire, not too sure who to replace. Maybe Jacques, klinger probably too old.
Clarke
Khawaja
Ferguson
Paine
White / Smith
Johnson
Hilfy
Bollinger

It's a bowler short lards but still on the right track. Time for change is now and I agree with the OP. There's nothing wrong with supporters saying this. What's wrong is gutless selectors being the way they have always been, too afraid to make the call on a player. It's harder to get in the side then stay in it. Always has been and a little the other way is needed.
That and I'm sick of Poster Boys playing for marketing reasons and how good they look on a poster.
Why Dougherty got dropped for the second game is beyond me. Why Hauritz is still in the side is evident. Ponting has too much say and the players are in too much control of selection through him.
IF we lose the series Punter will most definitely give up the captaincy drop down the order or walk away entirely he was shattered to lose the 09 series and was under a ton of pressure to keep the captaincy.
I just want to see YOUNG players given opportunities like other Cricket nations do.
I mean FFS Warne would be lucky he didnt debut in this era he would of never gotten the chance to show what he was capable of would of gotten dropped after getting destroyed by Sri Lanka in his debut 1-200 odd.

Did you just select White or Smith as a spinner?? Are you a Muppet?? I think you are...

You mean the bogans who dont give a rats ass about cricket except for their one-eyed patriotism or the true cricket fans who want to see the best team on the park and a respectable establishment as well as wins on the board

Better than Horrowitz or any of the other duds playing state cricket.

No they are not really. They are both batsmen who can bowl a little bit, better off playing 4 quicks especially at the gabba.

concur with playing 4 pace.
Frankly katich and clarke could make the 5th bowler between them.

I don't see a problem with patriotism.
I'm highly critical of the team selection, some of the players, but I still want us to win.
As for respectable establishment...ROFL.
Trevor Hohns and co rode the back of the good work done in the 1980s.
We had two great captains in Border and S.Waugh, and IMO tubby taylor rode the back of a great team.
Loved the fact s.waugh never believed in dead rubbers like taylor and I loved the fact we executed teams under waugh.
Border was a great captain under a great deal of duress with a crap team morphing into a very good team, and S.waugh was the terminator who extracted every bit of juice out of the team he had available.
Punter inherited a very good team and a crap management structure riding the tails of what was achieved in the 80s and 90s.
I found it ironic trevor Hohns, who took krugerrands to go on rebel tours criticised aussie players who wanted more money into the system at the cost of management dollars  Hohns added nothing of value to the team and none of the current crew are doing so either.
Maybe chappell will inject some steel, idk.
as much as i'd hate to lose to the poms, especially here, I hope we lose the series 4-1.
Get beltings in the first 4 tests then have a big clean out and win the last one with a new young team.

young teams don't necessarily mean winning teams.
Old teams don't necessarily mean losing teams.
even our young fast bowlers are quite raw and injury prone.
McGrath started off as an angry fast, fast/medium, before becoming the lethal destroyer in the latter part of his career. some may remember his bouncers and his on field 'discussion's' and 'dissents' with player and umpire.

When Australia dominated world cricket the muppets said the opposition was no good and the domination was boring. Now we aren't dominating and the muppets say we are crap.
What do people want?
It's obvious most didn't live through the Windies domination.

This might be the most moronic comment ever. Congrats! :thumbsu:

They want to complain, we pretty much have the poms covered there these days.
Btw, i hope we smash em and Punter's a champ!

How dare he want to get a proper preparation for the Ashes:rolleyes:
And as for the guy who reckons we should bring in White or Smith as the spinner, as clueless as bloody Hilditch and co, they are both batsmen first and foremost that can bowl a bit part time.
Sometimes I wonder if people will ever get this fact, the only way these two will make the Test side is in the top 6.

No, I can't ever bring myself to hope we lose to the Poms and definitely not in Australia. You're not much of a supporter if you truly want that, sorry to say.

Taylor was the better captain than Border and Waugh. I agree with your points above re those 2 but Taylor had them covered from a captains perspective including both tactics and getting the best out of the players. He was a fantastic captain.

I see what the OP is saying; we've had 2-3 years of sub-standard performances now, and nothing changes.
The Coach remains, the Selectors remain, players aren't dropped as a result of poor performances and new players aren't selected to reward their efforts.
I expect us to win 2-1, the problem is, it'll wall-paper over the cracks and we'll carry on as if nothing was wrong, again.
It sickens me to even contemplate not wanting us to win, but the status quo is rooted.
But Ponting doesn't deserve the shame of losing the Ashes at home.

As much as I hate the selectors, my desire to beat England is much stronger than that. I hate North, Hussey, and Hauritz but if any of them are playing in the Ashes I will be backing them to the death.
Yes I hate the Poms, and yes it would pain me to see us lose, but it's the only way anything will change, and the time for change is well overdue.
If Ponting cares more about playing for his beloved Tasmania then let him play for them. Just don't give him national selection ever again. It appears he made his own decision and it wasn't for his country.Huh?
