Don't know if there was a thread already on this but yesterday Australia won this tournament for the first time. Needing 46 off the last over to win against Pakistan we hit 48. For those who don't know it is 8 ball overs.

Results at this link: http://hongkongsixes.sportzvault.com/common/pages/public/rv/draw.aspx?entityid=36371&id=RVFIXTURE&gradeid=2790

Glenn Maxwell won player of the tournament. Team was led by Dave Warner.

Yep, Pakistan were set fair to win - 48 needed off the last over. Then Imran Nazir steps up to bowl the last over - 6 no-balls and 12 wides.

Wonder what the odds were? I mean that's just rubbish. There were quite a lot of wides bowled in the tournament (they are very strict in Sixes) but 6 no-balls?

That is quite funny actually. Go Aussies.

Like I said in the NSW thread, there are replays of this tournament at 2:30pm on Wednesday and Thursday on Fox Sports.

I'm sure the ICC will be taking a close look at Nazir's bank account.

For those who don't know the game is played on a strange shaped ground... Should google image it but its a 6 hitting ground.. I believe the game is played with an indoor cricket ball and basically no room for error in regards to bowling wides... Carters for us bowled 7 wides in his over.

I thought Carters was a wicketkeeper by trade, and Warner can bowl some leg spin? Yet in this tournament, Warner kept wickets and Carters bowled. Go figure.

Reminds of when Gilchrist and Lehmann played in one of the tournaments. Lehmann kept wicket and Gilchrist won them the game with the ball.

Fantastic performance by the Victorians with some support from David Warner, who said Victorians cant win international tournaments? :D

Good to see Maxwell and Carters do well with the bat, really is the sort of game they are suited to perfectly

A backhanded compliment if I ever saw one.

I went, and that last over was ridiculous - up on youtube now if anyone wants to check it out. Yes, it's a small ground - the square boundaries can get you six from a thick edge, which is why bowlers with lot of pace and bounce don't necessarily do well.

Carters's over was pretty good despite the wides - he slipped a couple past the batsmen, who ran and were run out by Warner. Carters also got Shehzad out with an edge that would have his bat still vibrating today, but the umpire somehow didn't give it. Shehzad put on 30-odd more. You can't be too cranky at Sixes though.

You do see some odd roles though - when the All-Stars played a couple of years ago Lara kept wicket while Geraint Jones bowled - and Jones batted pretty well too. Warner kept the last time he played as well, two years ago, with John Hastings and a couple of others. We made the final then too, tied but lost as we'd lost more wickets. I was trying to get John Davison in the middle to reprise his World Cup innings of a few years back, but he was happy coaching.

Anyway, was a fun weekend despite the rain Saturday. If anyone's in HK at that time of year it's worth checking out - better than the Sevens.

It's like playing at my local park, one half of it anyway!
