I enjoyed everybody's response to my TISM fave songs thread, thought it might be time to get to the stuff that their fans (that stand up the back) actually enjoy their output for.

List any TISM lyrics that you find particularly worthy here.

( As a moderator, yes I know that many of TISM's lyrics probably can't be stated here, eg : All dressed up in ****ing Adidas, like ****ing ****ed ****heads. Please try to keep it clean or I'll be cited for inciting a revolution :) )

So, here's some that have always taken my fancy :
"You can't get a laugh out of Steffi Graf, when you tell her her friends are a bunch of backstabbers." (Play Mistral For Me)
"Nothing happens to ambulance subscribers" (If You're Ugly, Forget It)
"I support the cops who took you offstage. I support the fact you bled. I support the cops who carried you off. I support the fact you're dead." (Morrison's Hostel)
"You're Dad's In Advertising. You'll Be A Gigolo Too" (If You're Creative, Get Stuffed)
"Hardwired into everyone's head is the person you're going to be. Growing up's not a matter of choice. It's a matter of wait and see." (Greg! The Stop Sign!!)
"I've played on Rodney Grinter, and I've been concussed." (Get Thee In My Behind, Satan)
"I've got my needle and my syringe. I've got my freedom from the world. I'm gonna kill my Mum and Dad, and then I wanna get into real estate." (Anarchy means crossing when it says don't walk)
"When you live monogomous, expect to die young." (can't remember title - spoken word)

Geeze, I could go on forever, but hey, anyone else wanna give it a burl?

For a whole song, I find it hard to go past "ExistentialTISM"

You know, me and my baby, no couple like us,
We got our Sartre, we got our Camus,
I love her 'cos I hate the stinking bitch,
She's like a train...or a horse....I forget which,

Who cleaned the home?
Jean Paul Sartre?
Simone de Beauvoir?

I'm The Outsider, not for me the conventional law,
Though here's a tip - the book's a bore,
I'll take responsibility for my innermost wishes,
But I'll be buggered if I'll do the dishes

Who cleaned the home?
Jean Paul Sartre?
Simone de Beauvoir?

Now my baby's left me, she's walked out the door,
Said she won't touch my six inch gold blade no more,
I'm aware that One can never really know Other,
But f*ck existentialism, I'm going back to mother

Its the ****s with the bad haircuts that you've got to watch out for. There's never been a popular teenager yet who's done rat's with their life. Its the ****ing dorks that give it a real go. Glenn McGrath got 5 for 50 that day.

Also, see sig.

Maybe we shouldn't hate Collingwood
Or blame religion on JC
Or marvel at the racist kids
Who love Public Enemy

----------

I might have screwed you sister
But I'd never screw your mum......

I mightn't tell the truth sometimes
Hey, now what's you mum's nuuumber....

You need a copy of "The TISM Guide to Little Aethestics".

It has all their lyrics up to "Great Truckin' Songs....", all their press releases/fan club mailouts (anyone remember their "Do You Give A Sh*t That Ricky May Died?" one? And the media storm over it?), and interviews.

I'm not sure how many copies they printed, but the band had to go through every copy and black out names (like Amway in the song "Death Death Death") due to threats of legal action.

And no, my copy is not for sale.

That reminds me of the lyric from "Bad Penny" by Big Black....it went something like this:

I might have screwed your girlfriend once,
Maybe twice, I can't remember,
And I screwed all your friend's girlfriends,
And now they hate you

I don't have Aesthetics, unfortunately, but, speaking about legal action, I have BOTH covers of the album that had to be changed, namely "Australia The Lucky ****" and "Censored Due To Legal Advice".

Of course I'd never kendone the original cover.

Love this bit, as well as :

Kurt Cobain couldn't deal with fame,
But at least he didn't score an own goal against Columbia.

The title, "Play Mistral For Me", and the main chorus line, "You're Only As Good As Your Fans" are probably my most quoted bits of TISM songs when trying to explain their songwriting skills to others.

Shinners have i mis-read this or do you have a copy of "Little Aethestics" that hasn't been blacked out?

Sadly, I have a blacked out copy.

I just knew that "Amway" was the name blacked out in "Death Death Death".
