Channel 9 will ruin this. If they didn't understand or appreciate Shaun Micallef, how will they go with Tony Martin and Ed Kavalee talking about obscure british sitcoms from the 80's?

People want ducks.

He'd be way, waaaaay down the list. Lucky to make the top one hundred biggest knobs in Australian Media. Kyle Sandilands holds the first five spots on his own.

Gruen-ish in it's detail and research, but not a panel show apparently.

I hope it's not another "TV Burp", but with Denton's involvement that's unlikely.

TV Burp was just a disaster on every level. They chose the wrong overseas TV-commentary show to rip off and Ed was just so uncomfortable in that hosting role.

Ed doing a Soup type TV show would have worked so much better.

I agree, Ed would've been fantastic hosting a show about the soup he's eating that day.

Rex Hunt's page has been subtlely vandalised:

Hunt also made public pronouncements regarding the 'thugs in the scallop industry' and their dredging of Port Phillip Bay, describing their actions as 'dizzy stuff'. He and a group of anglers and activists were successful in removing the dredging boats and restoring fish populations within the Bay.

Such a shame, but this has been snuck in:

"The shows original title was to be "Telly Kavalus" but this was squashed by the thugs in scallop industry and the noted "knocker, deadbeat and roller of fat-cigarette" Guy "Dobbo" Dobson."

Dizzy stuff!

My favourite part was in the picture format section, somebody included the Meat Pie trailor format.

But the first 3 weeks of Get This were a nervous shambles. I really hope the Thugs in the Channel Nine industry give it time.

Wasn't as good as I'd hoped for and Ed's awkwardness of not knowing where to look annoyed me, but Hamish and Andy sucked some serious balls on TV at first too and Get This was better than Hamish and Andy. I'm gonna give it time.

Why did they devote the entire show on TV titles?
I kind of lost interest after 15 minutes of the same stuff. They need to adopt more than one TV theme for the show.
Even when the guest came on they kept banging on about titles.
I'll give it another go next week but hopefully their is a bit more variety

It is unfathomable why they chose such a boring topic to start with. I also think that Ed and Tony where very nervous and had a deer in the headlights feel because of the various comedic deaths that have been suffered at the hands of Channel Nine. These blokes are at their best when they are riffing in an unscripted way - hope they can do it. Lets face it - these two guys have more talent in their little toes than Mick Molloy. Tony Martin should be in our comedy Pantheon

Plugger35
21 Sep 2011, 11:22
Was OK but not great, hopefully Nine gives it time as it's still better than most of the repetitive crap they have on like CSI and Two and a Half Men.

Also agree that it would work better in a TV Burp type format where they take the piss out of current TV shows rather than shows from 20 or 30 years ago that a lot of people wouldn't have heard of.

Mr_Bojangles

Have not seen "burp". But your sentiment is bang on.
Martin is a smart and savvy bloke. But people get old. You adapt or die. Country practice jokes with "the gossiper" or having phelps hardly helps the cause.
I think Martin is quite a brilliant fellow-but if you are purloining the urine, make it somewhat contemporary. The masterchef juggling apples stuff was funny. The "sons & daughters" shit-not much. Due to his age, most of his references are from a period that is relevant and funny to him. Fair enough. But it is his bete noir. And it doesnt translate well across the board.
Kavalee cannot do television. It is too obvious. SBS soccer hi-jinks aside. And that was cringe
Pity its on nein. Their comedy directorship must be consisted of Eddie, Stefanovic and Jo Hall.
With time, on another network, it could flourish.
But then again, I dont want another 7pm project abortion.
Newsflash- Dave Hughes is seeing out his contract. 2012 will be the end for him on that show. He wants out. And will get out. And be bruised and forever laughed at for taking it on.

ManWithNoName
22 Sep 2011, 10:29
Agree with other saying it's too scripted. It comes across as Tony and Ed reading a script for half an hour. That's the main problem.
