More info on Mitch Curnow:
Mitch was selected by Port Adelaide in the 2010 Rookie Draft. A very young, raw ruckman, he spent 2011 switching between the Sturt Reserves and Sturts Under 18s side. He played the first 9 matches of the year at Reserves level. A couple of quiet weeks saw the club ask that he be pushed down to the Under 18s to continue his development. He played well at Under 18 level, making the best players in 3 matches and kicking 6 goals in his 7 matches.
Mitch deserves the time to develop his body as his raw ruckwork is quite impressive. Agile around the ground and capable of directing taps to his midfielders, A big pre season in the gym should see Mitch start to dominate the reserves competition and push for league selection in 2012.

Currently in Italy on holidays and ran into Mitch's dad in Amalfi. He saw my Power cap and we started talking and when he mentioned his son was a rookie I latched on like a leech.
Mitch is happy at the club and living with Matt Thomas in the "halfway house". He needs to put on 10kgs before being considered for senior selection, but is having trouble due to still growing. Currently he is 203cms and the target weight keeps changing.
Any suggestion that he should be delisted is just plain stupid. Any young 203 player needs 4 seasons.

Thanks for the update as you do it tough Natman. ;) Interested to hear he is still growing.
Shows good mobility, skills and poise for a big man in this footage. Definite keeper.

looks good but has spent weeks playing in the Under 18s against kids, now behind Kurtze, Wundtke and now Grundy good tap ruckmen needs to produce more around the ground

Somebody has to do the hard yards particularly in Naples - yukky ATM.
Just to add that Mitch's parents seem happy that Matt Primus is a good coach for Mitch.

Well as his buddy for 2012 seeing as he will more than likely be with Sturt for the whole year, I thought I would post his PAFC game reviews in here, in order and keep a keen eye over the year to hopefully see an improvement in the way his play is talked about from week to week

Mitch Curnow (for Double Blues reserves v Roosters)
"Played in the twos for Sturt - rucking for them and he was very pleasing. Again, he's another player who's focussing on competing all the time and he certainly did that! They (Sturt) were happy with his work."

SANFL Preseason week 3

Mitch Curnow (for Double Blues reserves v Bloods)
Curnow played reserves for Sturt in the ruck. A real young ruckman for us, Mitchy’s been working on his competitive side and stepped it up a notch on the weekend. He’s in the same boat as Webb - we’re asking these guys to start to take control of games, so it’s been good to see that from him at a reserves level, particularly considering he was playing Under 18s last year.

Mitch Curnow (for Double Blues reserves v Redlegs)
Mitchy is working on his positioning around the ground - trying to get to contests and we’ve been working on that with him. His ruck work was reasonable when he was on the ground, although he played just under half the game. We’ll certainly look for him to get more involved in the game next week
