This weekend the Swans are up against the Eagles, what does everyone reckon the result will be?
Will the Swans continue their form from last week or will the Eagles home advantage be too much for the Swans?
I'm predicting the Swans to win, unfortunately for Eagles fans I'm not predicting a great year for their side.
Swans by 21.

WEst Coast will come out smoking.

If Sydney can weather the storm then our superior midfield can get a chance to regain some ascendancy.

I expect West Coast to dominate the first quarter, then 2nd and 3rd quarters will hang in the balance as each side tries to get on top, then, (fingers crossed) Sydney will kick away in the last.

My prediction : Sydney by 36.

cheers

Confidence is a funny thing - the Swans seem to have some at the moment and the Eagles don't. Playing at home with expectations of an improved showing will put just as much pressure on the Eagles as favouritism does on the Swannies. Hopefully nothing untoward happens early because, as BSA has said, once the game is properly underway the Swans should be too good. It will be closer than many people expect, though. Swans by 15.

Tim might be in Philly but his prediction is right on the mark! Well done.

Well done Tim_in_Philly! Good effort to tip the correct side plus the winning margin.

BSA - "our superior midfield can get a chance to regain some ascendancy"?????????

How do you figure you have a superior midfield, i think it was proven on the weekend that our midfield is better but your forwards made the best of the opportunities they got.

Yup - no excuses, Cresswell was well held, Schwass seemed a little outta sorts, Maxfield was good in bursts, Williams spent most time on the half forward line, Doyle struggled, (but Stafford had a good game I reckon)

But, you see Joddy, these days we have depth to call on so if the "Old Boys" of Cresswell, Schwass and Maxfield get tagged out then we can fall back on guys like Bolton and Fosdyke to do the job. And I thought these two did a great job in the middle for us yesterday. Bolton especially in the second half was fantastic. While all his teamates seemed half asleep, Bolton was the only Swan prepared to have a dip and get into the packs and try and do something to stop the Weagle tide.

We may well have been over-run completely if it wasn't for his second half efforts.

Good call BSA i though Fosdike and Bolton were better than your star midfielders on Sunday but to beat teams like Essendon Schwass and Cresswell will have to fire.

With Kelly out for you and Kemp out for us i thought it was a pretty accurate look at both our midfields. I would personally rather our midfield but only because of the age factor. Schwass and Cresswell are on the verge of retirement, Maxfield and Williams are also not so young anymore. I hope the Swans are looking at recruiting some youngsters to run the midfield once the older guys go. I dont know your team as well as you do so you might already have some youngsters coming through which will be vital for the Swans.

What did you think of young Daniel Kerr for us? Just 17 years old and last year was playing high school footy!! Quite the gun youngster.

He certainly caught the eye - as did alot of your young guys.

Same with The Adelaide Crows in Round 1 too.

Both WCE and Adelaide really have nothing to worry about, both clubs have good depth and it always seems to be the way - when your youngsters step up, they seem to be ready made footballers with all the skill and athletic ability already in place.

Its very illustrative of the huge depth that exists in both Adelaide and the WCE. Apart from Essendon I don't think any other clubs quite have the knack of bringing on and developing young talent quit like these big, powerful clubs from Perth and Adelaide.

Kerr was just another fine product from a great production line, as long as they continue to come on, WCE have nothing to worry about.

I just wish Ken Judge would believe it too !

BSA - i think your pretty spot on, we always seem to find talent that just steps in and is instantly up to speed with AFL footy like for instance youngsters Cox and Kerr. I always hear lines like this from other clubs "oh yeah he's a project who will come good" I dont think the Eagles have ever had a "project".

Judge i think is starting to get on everyones nerves over here. To go public saying the things he says about the Eagles is either a great tactic that is just flying over our heads or he's incredibly stupid. When it all comes down to it though i actually think hes a pretty good coach and he seems to be good at recruiting talent. But i'll access my thoughts on Judge after say round 10 http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/wink.gif

Oh and could you do the Coasters a favour by pumping the Roos on the weekend. I love to watch the Roos get beaten and just in case we lose to the Saints i wanna make sure we avoid the bottom of the ladder http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Cheers.

Just on KJ

I like him as a coach, I think he did a great job in bringing on Hawthorn during the 90's. Where they are today has got alot to do with the legacy of KJ.

It seems he has carved out a niche for himself in taking over clubs at the bottom of the footballing cycle and instilling into them good sense of discpline, accountability and doing the basics properly.

Can see the same things working at the WCE.

Where your club is at at the moment, KJ seems a great fit.

BUT what I can't inderstand is why he continually undermines everything by his negative rhetoric all the time.

Accusing half his players of 'not being serious' last Sunday was really just a disgraceful thing to say and in the space of two seconds he probably undid a weeks worth of preparation and whole match days' worth of work.

He didn't seem to be like that at Hawthorn so WTFk is going this time ?

KJ at Subiaco continues to baffle and frustrate.

cheers

Yeah i totally agree i thought after that effort in the second half he would finally say something positive about the club but low and behold i was wrong again. I wonder what he'll say after a win http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
