BIO*:

In Forest Hills, Queens, New York City, high school student Eric Mackenzie is a science whiz orphan living with his Uncle Ben and Aunt May. One faithful day while on a school excursion, he is bitten by a radioactive spider at a science exhibit and acquires the agility and proportionate strength of an arachnid. He was then taken by West Coast during the second round of the 2006 National Draft.

Eric spent the early years of his career playing most of his games for Claremont in the WAFL, but after a season-ending injury to skipper Darren Glass he took the opportunity by the throat and played 18 games in 2010. Looks the goods, a quality stopper with a good strong build and a (generally) neat kick who just needs to work on his decision making out of defense.

With Glassy nearing the end of his career, emac looks like our future full back. In 2011, however, with Glass re-entering the side, the competition for a remaining KPD spot looks fierce, with Mitch Brown looking like a potential gun CHB.

At 99kg, he's one solid mofo. His frame looks like it could add more bulking up too, without becoming cumbersome.

I like this kid who I think is treated pretty unfairly on this forum. Not many 21 yr olds holding down FB in the AFL last year, which is undoubtedly the most accountable position on the ground. This is not to say that I wasn't cringing when he got the ball a few times but I actually think his disposal is pretty good for a guy his size, just needs to work on his decision making - which I hope will improve with more settled back six. I hope WC are prepared to allow him to continue to work on his game, despite the potential short term downside, and he may turn out to be a very good backman. It a tough position to play, especially for a young KPD, in a team where the midfield is getting thumped allowing seemingly endless supply to the opposition KPF.

Big call time - Should surpass Glass as the 1st choice FB this year.

Maybe in any other team he would, but can't see it happening with our coaching staff. Would be good for the future of the team if Glassy moved off the best forward and onto the second or third foward ala Dustin Fletcher. Mackenzie is definitely our future FB though - his kicking is fine, not great but acceptable, as you said it's just his decision making that needs work. It'll get better, and so will Mackenzie.

his disposal isn't great, but in his position he doesn't need top notch skills, he just needs enough not to turn it over every time, and that isn't too hard to gain with a bit of practice.......... will be a scary prospect along side the homeless schoffer.....
