I guess that's where we are with the Frockers above us.

Freo looked a lot better in their Heritage guernseys and came home via an enormous solo performance by Pavlich assisted by the unlikely Troy Longmuir.

It's all tight in the 8 (apart from Feral Port)

I hope Kenny's not around to see this but Pavlich was awesome in that last quarter

I have to agree here. I watched the last quarter and a half and Pavlich was exceptional. Bell did some gutsy things as well and the young Freo defenders stood up very well.

The Dockers showed a lot of confidence to keep fighting it out and well done to them. As Woosha said we deserve to be where we are on the ladder. Unfortunately for us 3 of our last 4 games have been probably our worst for the season. Our confidence is down - the lowest I have seen it since Woosh has been at the helm. We have an almighty challenge to get back on track this season - we have obviously relied too much on Gardy, Fletch and Embers this year......

Lets cheer the boys on to try and lift to get back to where we were in the middle of the season!!!

GO EAGLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D :D

with out at least 1 star back next week we will be toasted.

but if we get one back, then we would be a 50/50 chance at winning.

This is terribly dissapointing. What are we going to do about all this??? I suppose theres nothing we can do really. Lets all just hope and pray that we get some of these missing players back and can start performing!

With Flecth back, I would say we are still only a 50/50 chance to win. If we had Gardi, we WOULD win. but since he has that ever-occurring two-week injury that wont happen.

King is out for the season.

Geelong played well on Friday and are confident. Nothing to lose. We are down and nervous, that is a recipe for mistakes.
A lot of attention has been called to our injuries, quite correctly, but we are also seeing either a form slump or others carrying injuries. Players like Judd, Kerr, Sampi and Cousins are and have been match winners. They are playing like shadows of themselves. I looked at Harvey of the Kangaroos, he was magnificent today, a much better performance than Benny has put in all this season. Yet I believe that Benny is the better player. Judd has been sensational and now is flat. Kerr one of the best in and under players in the AFL roves the packs. I even wonder why Judd is in the square at bouncedowns, it's on the wing that he has room to use his speed and his tackles are soft in the middle.
So I just wonder if Woosha's hand on the tiller is shaking a bit, their is more to this slump than just injuries. Is their a hint of panic in the selections and matchups? I may be wrong but it concerns me. We have to get back to playing fast running footy, off the ball and on the bal, creating space for others and working as a team it's what we do well. Forget this high kicking game to the half and full forwards, make space and use the ball to long leading players who hand it off to a rampant midfield that break the oppositions half back line wide open and either score or hold the ball in. It sure beats seeing us get posession and lose it at half forward then see the opposition rebound and score.

7th at the moment. We are still only 2 points outside of a top 4 finish and we are good enough to win out from here.

well the Roos losing today has all but secured our spot in the 8 at least, all we need to do is get at least a home final.....

but the dissapointing thing is that we could finish 8th this year, which we mean essentially we haven't improved on last year.........which is not what the players deserve, because blind freddy could see the improvement we've made :(

But lets be confident, I think we should win at least 2 of these, which give us a home final...

Yep you are right Jod, the 8 is very tight and we have the cats and the demons in the next two weeks. Hopefully some of the injurred boys will get back either next week or this week and we can start winning some football games!

I'm prepared to call to the season over - We need a double chance and a home game in the finals to be a threat, and we wont get them.

We have improved on last years results with 11.5 wins and a better F/A ratio - Based on the last 4 weeks, I'm only confident of one more win (against Melbourne), anything more than 12.5 wins is a bonus IMO.

Time to start preparing for next season

1. Give some game time to Hansen, Lynch, Seaby & Beeck now - we will have to do some trading at the end of the season, so its time to see what we have in our hand.

2. Suma - pull your finger out. For a FF who used to blow-up ala Richo when delivery was crap, you don't seem to be improving things as an assistant coach.

3. Woosha - take some time out for lateral thinking courses. Malthouse tought you some very bad habits, like game-plan tunnel vision.

I wouldnt go as far as saying the season is over but it is really looking bleak. Its really disapointing that eagles have hit a slump and injury problem at the wrong part of the season! In saying that we are still in reach of the top couple of sides and footy is a funny game. who knows what will happen next week. all i can say is i hope the eagles can win the last 3 games or atleast 2 of them and finish above the dockers LOL
GO EAGLES

The Eagles themselves are still very confident of a successful finals campaign.

The Geelong game is winnable. Jabber, I wouldn't be so pessimistic.

Coaching is a definate issue but it helps to have a settled team. You look at Freo and their 22 has been playing together for the last 2 years with little change, we're still experimenting though the good news is our high-calibre players (Top 6-10) are as damagiing as they come.
The major problem is overall skill level, always has been. What good is Braun having the ball 27 times if he can't hit a target with little pressure. Even without Gardiner, Fletcher and Embley, we managed to win more clearances against the best clearance side in the comp but it just breaks down too many times.

1. Braun, Kerr, Green, Jones, Glass, Banfield have major weakness in disposal by foot. Way too many in the first 22.

2. Gaspar is the only possible answer on our list to CHB. Glass will be a solid FB and Hunter can take medium types but we need Gaspar to be as good as his brother. If injurys are a problem, then we must trade for one.

3. A small defender in the form of Roger Hayden so we can release Wirrapunda up the ground more. Why not trade Cox to Collingwood for Tarkyn Lockyer?

Solve these problems and 2004 will be dominant season for us.

I'd love to see Tarks in an Eagles jumper.

Yeah guys, cmon. All is not over just yet. If we can get Gardiner and Fletcher back soon and maybe Embley back for the dockers game who knows what can happen!!!!! Cmon guys be positive, we are still a chance. If we can win next week we will go up the ladder and into the four as some of the other games are top four sides vs top four sides!
BE POSITIVE: WE CAN WIN!

p.s: I want to see Tarkyn in our team too but who for?

Trading for someone after a knee reconstruction... huge risk. Better off developing someone like Humm to play in a back pocket IMO.

oi we gotta think positive!!! WE can still make the top 4 providing a bit if luck goes our way!

Our confidence needs to b lifted! Woosha needs to get into the boys..pump em up like sheeds or dare i say mick would. Theyve been on top for too long to finish 8th!!! Please we were 2nd for 8 weeks!!! If we had one some of those ****y games in between ( hawks, sydney, buldogs) we would have been on top!!!
The boys need to be hungry! They need to want to win! I mean the dockers have never been in finals and they r HUNGRY to b in them. If u want something u'l get it if u try hard enuf and thats wat the boys need to do!

The last time we beat Geelong in Geelong was probably Woosha's milestone game, so I don't think we can even come close against the cats next week.

Melbourne should be an easy win, but then again most of us thought that against the Bulldogs, right?

We'll make the finals, but once again it looks as if we have done all the hard work at the start of the season, to have it all come undone at the business end.
