View Full Version : Retirements . .
Looks more than likely that Barnard will retire at the years end given the game time he has had this season. :D
Ses also would be expected to leave despite playing a good game today.
IMO it is as clear as day about what Sheedy will do with our ruck division next season. Once Ses is gone he will want Aaron Henneman as our back up ruckman. This will happen because he is a favourite of his and likes the 'flexibility' that he brings. However i hate the idea for a number of resons. Firstly it means that the super talented (as already displayed in VFL) Jason Lay**** will not fit into the senior side and secondly, our current lineup would not have a spot for another KPP like Henneman. This could mean one of two things, either our side will be very tall and probably top heavy or one of our existing KPP will be traded which would be a bad decision IMO when comparing our current options to Henneman.
Therefore i am hoping that some1 shows some interest in Aaron in the offseason and we can trade him. However i doubt very much that Sheeds would let it happen or that other clubs would show interest.
Jason Layc*ck although a bit up and down this year he is still only 18. He will become a superstar no doubt in my mind . Henno will be a solid footballer only. Id have Sammy Hunt ahead of henneman to. I think next year sam will have the full back position to himself.

Agree with your assessment of the ruck situation in Sheeds mind (like anyone has a clue what Sheeds is thinking).
However I reckon Sheedy has it right. Henneman as a back-up ruckman is pure gold.
If the bloke actually gets an injury free run he could turn into anything. He is good enough to deserve his chance. Although Henneman has never been really good at racking up the possessions, what he can do is get his hands to the ball. He is hard and not afraid to end up on the ground.
Henneman needs to make this ruck spot his, otherwise there is no room for him at Essendon. He certainly won't beat any of our other talls to a key position post.
On the flip side the trading of a key position tall seems like a sensible business response to a side with an abundance in this area and a market with a deficiency in the area. It just sucks from a fan point of view.

What do you guys want from Carlton for Henneman?
I'd say the way we are going we'd want a back-up ruck option and a guy who's well-built who can play CHB. Henneman has been ok from what I've seen...name your price.
Carlton want Henno?
Hmmm...an early draft pick and say Angwin or Beasy.

Barny was awesome.
He played tough and did have some great games.
If he does go,I'll be a little sad,I didnt mind him at all.
Go Dons

I put that there because i am not the biggest fan of barnard at the moment and would applaud him retiring to give the youngens a go

The earliest draft pick from Carlton should be Priority Pick #2, then their next pick won't be until the 3rd round - around #33-36. And plus they can't even trade into the first 2 rounds of the draft either.
The Doggies will have #1 & (most probably) #4, and Melbourne will have #3 and possibly #5, so I reckon a trade with them would be better than to go through Carlton.
What's the best deal we could get from Carlton? Aaron Henneman and a 3rd round pick for the #2 and Glenn Manton??:D
