RIP

For 7 seasons I was glued to the TV and loved every minute of it.
IMO this is tied with Seinfeld as the best TV show of all time.

Buffy we salute you.

Spoilers, in case you taped it or something...

Basically the First evil, the source of all evil, witht he ability to appear as any dead person it wanted (in image only, it couldn't assume form) was the Big Bad. It was hellbent on eliminating the line of the Slayers, so all the potential slayers came to Sunnydale to be led as an army by Buffy and Faith (who had returned from jail.) They tried attacking once, got caned by an evil and cool preacher called Caleb, Buffy found a magic scythe, sliced Caleb up, went into the hellmouth and with Willow's magic gave the power of the Slayer to all the potentials. But at the end Spike sacrificed himself and managed to destroy all of Sunnydale and the Hellmouth under the school, where the First's army of Ubervampires was amassing.

There was plenty more happening but that's the basic gist of it.

Yeah, very spectacular way to finish the show, but I didn't like how the episode took the cop-out, deus ex machina resolution that's been pretty common for a few seasons now (with the notable exception of the previous one...) - everything's looking bad, all hope is lost etc etc...then Willow discovers and casts a super-powerful spell, or a long-lost mystical item suddenly turns up (or both, as in this case) and suddenly the day is saved. All in the space of 20 minutes or so after an entire season of anguish about the invincibility of the bad guy. The self-sacrifice of Captain Peroxide in this case was a good addition though. I suppose this episode was more about tying up loose ends with the characters and having a big ending than anything else, so the resolution of the threat had to be dealt with pretty quickly in order to fit everything else into the episode, but still...

Angel should have been in the last episode more. And Buffy and Dawn should have become incestual. Apart from that it was pretty good

How does Spike come back into the next Angel series???

Apparently as some sort of ghost to haunt Angel (which guarantees he'll become "real" again sooner or later and help out.) If it still has the witty banter I'm all for it - "oh, so everyone's got a soul now..." :p

I thought it was nice of the Lord's of the Rings folks to lend them a few spare Orks and a lava filled canyon for the first's army ;) :D

Seriously though, I was a little disapointed with the ending.

Maybe it should have just packed it in when Buffy sacrificed herself for Dawn a couple of seasons back eh ?

Just a thought....

on reflection i guess the ending didn't really do justice to the show. it wasn't bad or anything but it felt rushed. Perhaps they could have gone out with a 2 hour finale.

Anyway what's done is done.

Great series, ranks right up there as one of my favourite all time shows.

I liked the way it ended too, couldn't have thought a better ending personally so no serious complaints. Onya's (spelling) death really shocked me for some reason, she was a great character and I would've thought Xander would give her some more grief at the end then what he did. But no biggie, can't have everything, was a great episode.

Did anyone else (apart from b4l) notice how Anya died? URGH!

I saw the ep twice last week (thanks kazaa) but still was upset when i realised that was it, finito. :( plus spike died! :O and yes thank goodness he's coming back in angel! I loved that show even tho i only got into it in s4, when there were the angel crossovers, but I think most will tell you I am a complete addict now, only missing episodes 12-22 of season 2 from my collection of VHS And DVD.

Buffy is a show that won't age in terms of its themes and characters - there will always be that sort of stuff around for people to deal with, so hopefully repeats will be fast and furious from Ch7!

Ive been distraught for days....no more Buffy .... ever. It's so depressing, it is clearly the greatest television show ever. As for the ending, I thought it was pretty good but I didnt get some of it. I heard that their was going to be major changes and major deaths but the only two main characters that died were Spike and Anya. Spike obviously had to die because of the storyline but what was the point of killing Anya?

Also, Anya was killed by Ubervamps while Andrew lived? How in gods name would Andrew live through that? I thought one of the main 4 or 5 characters were going to die, mainly Willow, Xander, Buffy or Giles but they all lived which was good and bad in a way.

I just wonder who will make the crossover to Angel now? Buffy obviously wont but is Willow done with the series. Alyson Hannigan's fiance in real life is Wesley on Angel so she could come over to the show. Spike is dead and despite the rumors Im not sure he will make it over to Angel. What about Dawn, Giles and Xander....is that it from them, and Faith, she is too cool to just end.

Anyways enough ranting for now.

jod23 - Spike is definitely confirmed as a character for Angel. He's already signed a contract.

Saw a story on E! news or one of those shows a while ago with David Boreanez and James Marsters talking about how great it would be to have Spike on Angel even though Buffy was finished so he will definately be on it.

I hope Xander goes over to Angel as well.

I loved this show too. I stayed up every week to watch it. It became a bit of a tradition - no matter how tired I was, I couldn't tape it, I had to watch in when in aired. And I got a little emotional on Tuesday night when I realised it was finished, no matter how unsatisfying the ending was. I'm glad it is over though, it was getting a little stale, or if not the show, the characters were. By the end, the only characters I liked were Xander and Faith. Buffy and Dawn were too self indulgent, and Willow just wasn't the witty, chirpy Willow we all loved to begin with. Even Giles mellowed way too much by the end. I loved last season, thought it had a fantastic ending, but this season just didn't live up to expectations. I guess they had a pretty low budget for the show in the end.

That's what I thought as well - the entire season was episode after episode of Buffy whinging and the potential slayers learning stuff, so seemingly this thing was big and dark, and more evil than anything they'd dealt with before, for this stuff to be so important. Then all of a sudden, bang they've won, and lets tie up some loose ends. A 2 hour finale would have given them some time to slowly work out what had to be done, and actually face this evil in a... more realistic way I suppose. Angel's appearance in the show was a complete cameo - there didn't seem to be a point.

Great series, one of my favourite of all time. I was actually a bit dissapointed with the finale; it just didn't seem to me to do the show justice. It was also a bit of a cop out in terms of the season's build up and storyline (as someone has already stated).

I don't know why but I was expecting a pretty chaotic finish with most of the characters kicking the bucket. Would've been something different and provided some closure, the real ending was too open. Now i will always be wondering what happened to the characters and where they went.

RIP Buffy. Long live Angel.

Yah, I spose it was just reminding viewers that Angel was still going to be around, but I thought he was going to be worked into the last few episodes better then he actually was.

Sorry to drag up a really old thread but I haven't been around for awhile and my all time favourite TV show deserves to be dragged up.

I just wanted to point out aggels said Angel's role was a complete cameo and there was little point to it, Well actually Angel gave Buffy the amulet that Spike saved the world with so there was a pretty big point to it. ;)

Anyway lets all start sending emails, letters and bomb threats to Channel 7 to try and convince them to repeat the entire series, start to finish, until they go broke.

Also for those of you who liked Buffy your probably a Dark Angel fan as well, Channel 7 has started to show the ill fated series repeats again.
